Theres like 10 things I want to add to the game today

generated too many rooms, i probably messed up my brain.

foolishly trying to generate the ultra-rare forest variant that is mostly mushrooms

implementing some low-effort stuff as a treat. #gamedev #pixelart

uniquely severe switchback here, i love how delicate it is. shift just a bit and you could skip the whole thing. proc gen is so fun. #gamedev #pixelart

this room ended up being a really ideal stress test for my improved stepping stone placer. nice and narrow, and no illegal steps! #gamedev #pixelart #screenshotsaturday

oh shit a way out!! I didn't consider this possibility! #gamedev #pixelart

not sure how i'll actually handle it in the final game but for now falling in water sends you back to the start of the floor. #gamedev #pixelart #screenshotsaturday

been streaming random ui stuff for a couple hours, I think I've still got an hour or two left in me if you want to pop in! #gamedev #pixelart #screenshotsaturday twitch.tv/somfunambulist

streaming gamedev for a bit, come watch me program menus and shit twitch.tv/somfunambulist

going old-school with the menu in this game; you can bypass it entirely if you know the shortcuts, and all the menu really does is send the command in string form to the system (which currently just echoes your command back). #gamedev #pixelart

I'm tempted to leave the player speed relatively slow like this since most areas are not going to be very large, and I want the player to sort of chill out rather than blitzing through everything. We'll see how it feels when there's more stuff. #gamedev #pixelart #screenshotsaturday

would it be tacky to open up a spotify jam during a twitch stream? that way i can leave the music out of the stream, but people can still tune into what i'm hearing on their own.

gonna focus on player controls for a bit today before returning to some procedural generation stuff.

feels good to zoom in and see the forest from the player's perspective (you cant actually walk on water I just spent the bare minimum time programming this) #gamedev #pixelart

Ok I will do a little bit of coding today

Legit though like, if I was offered bare-minimum means of survival outside of the US right now, I wouldn't just accept, I would give everything I have to give for it with so much joy in my heart it would probably break from happiness.

Saw a Great Blue Heron today; can't tell if he's injured or if there's just some weird gunk on his wing there

Trying to think of a clever framework for a general shared carver object for my proc gen scripts to use, rather than having dozens of hyper-specialized ones.

This weekend I will stream some more gamedev, maybe I'll let you watch my rapid ui-development skills

extra cute one #gamedev #pixelart

rivers and crossings. need to refine the stepping stone placer; diagonals arent actually a legal movement option. still, it works pretty well! #gamedev #pixelart

auto tiling is such a fucking chore #gamedev #pixelart

You can thank Dunkey's Mario Kart World vod for the gamedev progress I'll make today, it rescued me from the pits of despair

I think my dungeon crawler is gonna have a nightmare meter that invisibly effects the likelihood of nightmare rooms/encounters, and exiting the boundaries of a floor will be the surest way to boost it. Theoretically unintended, but also inevitable considering the toolkit I'm giving the player.

I wonder how hard it would be to contact Metacom Music and get a license to play the Nature's Harmony cds during my streams
