looking ahead to my holiday reading, here’s a quick #mswl: - family dramas with a romantic subplot (non-xmas the family stone!) - lit fic that explores sexuality, relationships (give me a bisexual protagonist pls!) - romantic thriller, romantic sci fi - genre mash ups!! #amquerying #romancelandia

I'm actively looking for some new Indigenous horror authors (my biggest #MSWL item at the moment)! If you want to send me a query and you're an Indigenous horror writer, mention you saw my post on bluesky so I can flag your query. Info on how to query here: www.psliterary.com/submissions/

It’s not hoarding if it’s books. It’s building a personal library.

Trying to read more books in light of the reality we are living in. Just finished Tomorrow and Tomorrow andTomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Great book.

A Meteor shower

Please read books. I’m begging you.

Cher is releasing multiple memoirS (or a memoir in multiple parts, which is the same thing for our purposes). Cher is a megastar and has been in the public eye for over 50 years. It's not just that she's amassed many stories, it's that people have been interested/fascinated by her for decades...

If you’re writing “your memoirs”, you’re making a huge mistake. #memoir #memoirwriting #writersky

DJ Khaled voice: Another one! But seriously, we're seeing a lot more of these. And this one is huge. Seems we're at the "find out" stage of the equation with our industrial food system. 😬 www.npr.org/2024/11/17/n...

Some diverse books from my home library #booksky #blackbooksky

Don’t like a book? Don’t read it. Pretty simple.

Life is short. Write that novel. Paint that painting. Try new recipes. Learn black magic. Go into the forest at night. Summon a demon. Earn that demon's trust. Become best friends with it. Brag to everyone else about your new cool demon best friend. Knit that sweater.

Any amount of reading is a good amount of reading and more than what most people read

The backstory to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein puts unrealistic expectations on how much work you can accomplish in a vacation house.

What’s everyone writing this weekend?

I see all the accounts straddling worlds. Here, Threads. So far this is noisier.

This is Meatball. He's going home for the very first time. So excited to have a human of his own. Thinking about what he's going to call you. Maybe Bob. 12/10

Breath of Fire is OK (I’m partway through episode 3), but does a bad job explaining kundalini in Hinduism. The Yogi Bhajan/Guru Jagat “Kundalini” is a mishmash, though he tried to pass off what he was doing as rooted in Sikhism. The docuseries covers that part well (has a Sikhism expert in it).

You’re writing *a memoir*, not “your memoirs”. Let this distinction/correction unburden you from thinking you have to tell your whole life story, or even all the highlights & lowlights. Tell one story. That’s what a memoir is. One, complete, novel-like & “novel-length” story. #memoirwriting

WNC & writing & books.
