It's not just this industry. It's industry. It's the way that all large corporations are functioning on inhuman logics driven by inhuman model data that no longer possesses causitive logic that can be understood. The graph machine says the graph will go up 13% if everyone chops off their legs.

CEO compensation graphed next to employee compensation. 🙃

Normalize open sourcing video games post-release

Regardless of my feelings on gacha games, Valve's attitude towards games with anime art styles continues to be absolutely unhinged. No problem with an entire franchise of Sex with Hitler games on the platform but if an anime girl wears a school uniform in a non-porn game you're banned forever!!!

Today I spent the whole day trying and failing to understand how to decode pain text files. All I wanted to do was find each tag <> on a string, depending on the tag type do an action, then clean the string (remove the tag) and split the string into two separate segments. Nothing I tried works...

This is the kind of shit you'll catch me posting at 4:56am after I managed to pull off rendering a video on UI Builder (unsupported) by generating asynchronously during runtime a render texture with a resolution defined by the video that it needs to render (which does not yet exist). #gamedev

Genuinely writing code in Unity is a ☘️𝓱𝓮𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓮𝔁𝓹𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓬𝓮☘️ after having had to use Unreal for so long. Even when dealing with async calls to a deprecated networking library so I can import audio files during runtime, the experience is so much more nourishing to my soul than anything I did w/ Unreal.

Another re-post from Reddit, this time on the topic of piracy. Combatting piracy is a waste of effort. Everything from scientific research to authoritative figures (cue in that one picture of Gabe Newell) support this.

If you make UI for games, please drop whatever you are doing and look at Unity's new UI Builder framework so that you may fall upon your knees and despair knowing that your tools are not as good as that. Every time you work with the old UI system, or use Unreal's, know what you are missing out on.

Small delay on the actually interesting part of the marketing blog post due to my laptop needing surgery and having to set up an Ubuntu server on a machine I'm fixing up. The old plastic in the laptop where the threaded inserts are has snapped, so I need to fill it with silicone to hold it togethr.
