This is deeply concerning. We can have major issues with the candidate, but he won the elections and Romania's court annulled them on dubious grounds. Today, Romania has banned him from running again. Vance is right on one count: Europe does have a freedom problem. apnews.com/article/roma...

Ahmed al-Sharaa has said all the right things, at least in international media. But I wonder how much control he has over his men. If he's against the violations and summary executions, then he clearly has lost control over the rank-and-file. This will fuel an insurgency in Latakia.

More proof that European leaders could have done something all along to decarbonize. They are more than capable of thinking of future existential scenarios if Russia is involved, but not if climate is. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

Macron already alluded to cuts, saying difficult decisions must be made without increasing taxes. That Europeans cannot live off the “dividends of peace.” It is worth noting he and Starmer are unpopular, both having dashed the hopes of their voters.

Bernie Sanders should have delivered the Democratic response—even as an independent www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlrQ...

Imagine if he spoke about climate change like this www.lemonde.fr/internationa...

Macron is unpopular. Support for Ukraine is going down. European don’t want to gut the welfare state. They don’t want war with Russia. But this is the direction European leaders are choosing. Russia does not have the capacity to conquer Europe. This is a quagmire to-be born of irrational panic.

This was our project. Cut by DOGE because they don't want the world to be informed about climate change. They'd rather have an excuse to exterminate half of the world's population, still not enough to sustain their polluting lifestyles.

The EU needs to unite… but they might be misreading their populations. www.theguardian.com/world/2024/d...

Yes, and the EU could be it. But I hope it leads by example, and not by pursuing a reckless agenda with Russia. It should focus on the democratic deficit, consolidation, and the green transition. thehill.com/homenews/517...

I genuinely fear what will happen next for Ukraine.

This is a historic opportunity for Europe to unite and yet, if they do, I am afraid they will use such a newfound unity to wage war against Russia. Britain and France, especially, seem hell-bent on escalation. It could cost the welfare state—not to mention millions of lives.

Labor cutting foreign aid to fund defense spending increases to stave off a chimera. This will undoubtedly fund the military-industrial complex that lobbies for more insecurity, and more budget increases.

Look at the glaring difference between the BBC and NYT. Not that the BBC is very balanced, but the NYT has become an utter joke.
