Harvard University asked a federal judge on June 2 to issue a summary judgment ruling to unfreeze $2.5 billion in funding blocked by the Trump administration, which it said was illegal reut.rs/43WaszH

BREAKING: Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has sued Alina Habba for malicious prosecution and false arrest.

Here's something everybody should be paying attention to: Congressional Republicans are trying to weaken the Affordable Care Act and put millions of people at risk of losing their health care. Call your Senators and tell them we can't let that happen.

With so many wankers, fiends and goons in the Trump regime, we need a chart to keep track of them all. As ever, data quality matters at altCDC. Who’s more stupid than evil? More wanker than goon? Did we get these right? Who are we missing?

This is Bodie. He’s here to celebrate the start of Pride Month. Been working on this pose for weeks. 14/10 the parade starts right behind him 🌈🐾 (IG: hellobodie)

In 7 states in the middle of the country, voters lost a crucial protection under the Voting Rights Act against racial discrimination. That loss is particularly harmful for the Native communities and other voters of color in these states.

“When citizens must think twice about criticizing or opposing the government because they could credibly face government retribution, they no longer live in a full democracy.”

I don’t want to live in a world where people are in jail and barred from work for smoking weed but an unelected man actively abusing ketamine faces no repercussions for illegally seizing all of our data and making decisions that kill hundreds of thousands of people

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

America imported 26.2 million metric tons of steel last year. Much of it comes from Canada, Mexico, Japan, S. Korea and Germany and it goes into cars, appliances, and construction materials. The consumer will immediately pick up the cost of those tariffs as manufacturers pass on those costs.

MAGATs take on the characteristics of their leader TACO Don. They claim to be God fearing Christians while in reality they’re Racists , bigots, transphobes,& misogynists who love to play the victim.

If any pro-vaccine study did something like this, the anti-vax movement would broadcast it so loud and make it the centerpiece of a documentary. But, bc the anti-vax movement is fundamentally about eugenics and propaganda, they'll just hand-wave it away, play the victim, and move on.

Aaaaand I think we're done here #TACO

I’m in @newrepublic.com trying to answer some basic questions that a lot of folks have had about at-large immigration arrests: can agents be masked? Must they show warrants? Is any of this legal? I do my best to explain

OMG. 🙄

Pretty soon Trump will start selling pardons through Ticketmaster.

“Target Corp., facing financial headwinds and pushback over its diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, has dismissed two executives who have backed DEI efforts, including a chief legal and compliance officer it hired nine months ago.”

BREAKING: Scott Pelley just risked everything to make one thing clear: The attack on free speech isn’t coming—it’s already here. Journalists are being silenced, critics are being punished, and most of the media’s playing dead. This is state-sponsored suppression. This is dictatorship in real time.

Democrats don’t canvass in my rural community, but neither do Republicans. The difference is that churches often do the work of the Republican Party three times a week…

Amid rising tensions between the Trump administration and the judiciary, some federal judges are beginning to discuss the idea of managing their own armed security force. www.wsj.com/us-news/law/...

Some good news: it appears we have a good blood test to predict the development of Alzheimer's disease years in advance. It hinges on a protein called tau. My latest for @mcgilloss.bsky.social www.mcgill.ca/oss/article/...

The bill House Republicans passed on Thursday would add an estimated $3.3 trillion to the national debt as written. Here's a look at the cost or savings for nearly everything in the bill, as estimated by the CBO.

If I’m a foreign government right now—the one lesson that I’ve learned at this point is that there is no durable agreement to be made with this administration. Any assurance, policy, or deal will be arbitrarily annulled by a random 3 am post. No point in expending energy negotiating with this.

if dems want messaging help, stop telling people you're "fighting back." it sounds like you're being mugged. call off the podcaster search, take your ridiculous money pile and try opening some food banks and free clinics. hurricanes are coming and the feds have no plan. looks like an opening to me.

The fight for democracy is the fight of our generation. It may not be the battle we wanted, but it is the one we face. The state of our democracy and the future of our country depends on our willingness to take risks, ignore the naysayers, weather setbacks and fight fiercely for democracy.

You're seeing America kamikaze itself into a brick wall. It didn't have to be this way. But greed and racism, our two sins, will be our downfall. Too many people still with their hands in the sand.

Harvard University Press has published the definitive history of habeas corpus.

Donald Trump just barred Harvard from enrolling international—including Israeli—students. This was never about antisemitism.

I did a 1 year fellowship at Harvard University. I'm an immigrant. My faculty advisor at Harvard was Dr. Ali Asani. He's an immigrant. Trump's move to ban Harvard from accepting foreign students is yet another example that it was never about merit—it was always about protecting white mediocrity.

fwiw the Trump-appointed US Attorney for Massachusetts is married to Harvard Business School’s Senior Associate Dean for External Relations.

Here's a picture that a @kuow.org photographer took in Seattle yesterday, showing the ICE officers masked up in the hallways as they waited to arrest people coming out of their hearings.

A Harvard international student was just detained for hours and had her devices confiscated by CBP at Logan airport. She was released but this comes hours after DHS ended the ability for international students to enroll at Harvard. Absolutely terrifying time for colleagues and classmates.

Where the FUCK are we?

While many Americans were still asleep, Republicans in the House of Representatives passed Trump’s huge, horrible mega-bill. It might be the worst, most damaging piece of legislation I’ve seen in my nearly 60 years in politics.

The House Republican reconciliation bill will now ban both surgeries and HRT prescription under Medicaid for all Americans. Earlier, I posted that it wouldn’t affect HRT. This is incorrect. I was mistaken, because the bill refers to medications for trans people… as “procedures.”

The Constitution says that Congress must approve gifts to the president and his family from foreign potentates, but apparently the Constitution is mostly decorative these days.

The absolute disgrace taking place today in front of cameras in the White House is yet another reminder that for all the talk of Joe Biden's failures, the people who failed America the most are our citizens. Empowering this guy (again) was a foreseeable disaster we'll be lucky to survive.

Frost: Tonight the people stealing are not folks with tattoos and hoodies but people wearing suits and ties and congressional pins sitting in the capitol now, not in some alley wrapped in darkness but the United States congress wrapped in the flag. It is disgusting and we will never forget this.
