I don’t know how to fix all the shit this country has stepped in in the past decade. As a service member my heart is broken in ways many can’t imagine as I feel as though I have failed. I find myself going back and forth between continuing the fight or fleeing the country.

In the 1980s & 1990s the US was considered number 1 in education. Then in Bush signed the new child left behind act and we have been declining ever since. Of course there’s other mitigating factors, But they’ve been working on dumbing people down because uneducated people are easier to manipulate.

Students were ranting about a halt on deportation (I live in a rural community) Then I mentioned how Trump is going to pause federal loans & grants including potentitally loans & grants that support rural communities, they got real quite. It is great when you see students contemplate what you say.

Can we stop thinking learning about uncomfortable truths from the past is about guilt. It is supposed to be about empathy, so proper amends can be made and hopefully never repeated? Those (Musk, Trump, etc.) who think it is about guilt want to cover it up so they can commit the same atrocities.
