In the past eight months, 3 cases of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) have been diagnosed in one Oregon county; 2 of them have died. CJD is the human form of mad cow disease. It’s caused by prions and it’s not known how they developed it. CJD is 100% fatal. There is no treatment.
