The thing I admire most about Jeffery Goldberg right now is that he didn't sit on his incendiary scoop, waiting to reveal it only when he could make money from it in a book, like so many other selfish people who know shocking things about this administration have done and will continue to do.

Wait until Trump realizes this will deter many of his new voters.

“Nobody was texting war plans,” Hegseth told reporters.

Usha Vance, an intelligent woman, becomes a naive pawn in Trump's seize-a-nation game.

Molly Vaseliou, a spokeswoman for the E.P.A., said in a statement that the agency “is taking exciting steps as we enter the next phase of organizational improvements”

If he wants to prevent more measles outbreaks and harm to public-health institutions, Mr. Trump would be wise to nominate a replacement who knows something about vaccines. -- WSJ editorial board

If we’re having a contest about the most egregious statements of the Trump WH today I nominate Musk calling Sen. Mark Kelly, the astronaut, “a traitor.”

"We're gonna win so much, you may even get tired of winning. And you'll say, 'Please, please. It's too much winning.'" -- Trump, the candidate.

“His prose tended to stray from elegance.” — Obit writer Clyde Haberman made my day.

Thinking like a mob boss...

What he said about Social Security payments has been repeatedly debunked - so the question isn’t whether he’s lying about this, the question is why. What is this a pretext for? He and the GOP have long shown interest in going after Social Security. What are they going to try?

"The days of rule by unelected bureaucrats are over."

Let them eat Cod Liver Oil. -- RFK Jr.

“Looks like we’re tilting toward Russia.” What an understatement. When you lose Fox…

Rubio, Musk & Trump will have blood on their hands.

Steph Curry: “Collective resilience.”

My colleagues and I have been working to break news + write stories holding powerful people accountable. These are the top stories on our homepage right now, one of which I worked on. Our newsroom work is continuing. No one has ever told me what to write. If that changes, I’d speak out and leave.

Having served as a Moscow correspondent in the early days of Putin's reign, this reminds me of how the Kremlin took over its own press pool and made sure that only compliant journalists were given access.

Important to note, though: None of this will stop professional news outlets from covering this president in the same full, fair, tough and unflinching way that we always have. Government efforts to punish disfavored organizations will not stop independent journalism.

Eugene Daniels representing the White House Correspondents' Association: "In a free country, leaders must not be able to choose their own press corps."

And so it begins. After success blocking AP, Trump moves to control the media. Tip off: reference to “legacy media.”

A group of mostly Quaker religious organizations succeeded in temporarily preventing federal immigration agents from operating around their places of worship across the U.S.

5 things I did last week: Read about the billion $ mistakes. Saw Trump’s ignorance of gov't work. Watched Sen. Wicker say Putin probly should be executed. Heard Maine Gov. stand up to Trump. Worried about the destruction of the USA

“As President Trumps’ lawyers, we are proud to fight to protect his leadership as our President.." -- Ed Martin, interim US attorney in DC. He must have forgtten that he's the U.S. attorney, not Trump's attorney.

I'm not sure how soaring egg prices, mass firings, emboldened Nazis, a Measles outbreak, and planes falling out of the sky count as "wins" to MAGA, but I'd sure hate to see what losing is to them.

Help Musk & Trump: Let them know the five things you did last week. Tell your friends. Deadline, Monday at midnight. Send comments to: [email protected]

It’s funny that a Waymo, a driverless car, passes by but in S.F. that’s common. A headless robot, not so much.

No one asked for this

Still unnerved by this headless robot at my bus stop this morning

A WSJ analysis found that many claims of savings by Musk’s DOGE were overstated—and “woke” cuts were only a tiny fraction of the total. DOGE claimed savings of $7 billions. WSJ said it was $2.6 billion. & DOGE “wall of receipts” claims savings of $16b but it’s $7.6b. DOGE counted some twice.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Acting ICE director removed amid White House pressure to boost arrests. Louisiana Secretary of Wildlife and Fisheries Madison Sheahan, a former campaign aide to Noem, is expected to become acting deputy director of ICE…

"When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on Day One." -- Trump. How's that going?

While CA Public Utilities Commission approved 6 rate increases for PG&E customers last year, PG&E had $2.48 billion in profits.

After weeks of Virginians losing jobs due to Trump cuts, Youngkin finally expresses some concern. We don’t need your concern, Governor. PLEASE pick up the phone and call Trump. Fight for Virginians. Don’t prepare for the aftermath, PREVENT the crisis! www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

Finally.

Where are the Republican objections to Trump’s lies about Zelensky?

This story lists "What both men have in common." It omitted their sociopathic behavior and cruelty.

I can’t stop thinking about these two headlines

I appreciate the NYT referring to "Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency." I wish that when referring to election denials reporters would quit calling it a "false claim" and say what it is: a lie.
