Re-listening to Welcome to Night Vale and episode 259 has Steve Carlsberg find an envelope with a wax seal and his name typed on the front. Which now has me thinking about a WTNV/Taskmaster crossover...

My fellow #crochet peeps - does anyone else get a forearm rash when you've overdone the crocheting? I've been practicing two colour solid granny squares for a quilt-alike blanket and now I'm paying the price.

What's a poster you had up in your room growing up? I can't pick just one. The early 80s were a very good time for pretty boys in makeup...

Some yellows for this week's #ShowMeYourKnits. Three that are exactly what you'd expect from me (i.e. lacy shawls) and one that's quite different. Clockwise from top left: Concert by Corinne Ouillon Once upon a leaf by Diana Rozenshteyn Pulelehua by Romi Hill Night Shift by Christopher Salas 🧶

I think the prompt for #CrochetAway this week is blankets, so I bring you my current WIP and the most recent photo of the blanket stack! Current WIP is the Snowflake Temperature Blanket by Kaye Adolphson in various shades of Yarnsmiths Create DK. Blanket stack deets in the alt text 🧶

It's been far too warm to have a cat on my lap really, but who could resist this handsome face? #CatSky #CatsOfBluesky

Working an icord cast off seems to take forever and I'm really having to concentrate to keep it loose enough, even with a larger needle. Sure does look pretty though. Pattern: Joyous Shawl by Leela Frankcombe Yarn: lace weight merino/silk, alas discontinued. 🧶 #KnitSky

Double magpie goodness for you all this Friday (I love the magpies, jackdaws and crows that visit the feeder. The wood pigeons, on the other hand, are annoying as they're very greedy and fight a lot)

Today marks eight years since my husband died. Where the hell does the time go?

One of the frequent crow visitors to the bird feeder seems to have an injured leg and finds it a bit tricky to balance. But I'm glad that there's a fairly easily accessible food source for them. #BirdSky #BirdsOfBlueSky

For this week's #CrochetAway theme of animal helpers, here's Herr Professor Hector Von Whiskers testing my Yuletide Blanket (pattern is available on the Attic 24 blog). This was the project that triggered my crochet blanket obsession

Spending my Friday evening practicing a new #crochet technique - never let it be said that I don't know how to live the high life! Pattern is Training Wheels by Lisa Hounshell (or at least a sample thereof) in random leftover DK yarn (the other leftovers are in the bag in the background).

An update on one of my #CrochetAway WIPs - the temperature blanket is complete through to the end of May

I have two WIPs for this week's #CrochetAway - with very different gauges (thread and 2mm hook vs DK and 4mm hook) but similar enough motifs that I have to be*very* careful switching between the two. (Pattern and yarn deets in the alt text - you may have to scroll down)

A WIP for #ShowMeYourKnits - Joyous Shawl by Leela Frankcombe in merino/silk lace weight yarn (Chantilly from The Woolen Rabbit in Dawn (grey) and Diana 2ply from Posh Yarn in Queen of Spain (burgundy))

The face of a boi who is officially back in diabetic remission. (He is also 15 and totally fed up of my nonsense.) #CatSky #CatsOfBluesky

I think I know where the inspiration for these fancy new speakers came from...

Another day, another shawl on the blocking board (I have a bit of a backlog). The pattern is Midnight in Paris by Nim Teasdale (the Grande version, but I wish I'd made it even bigger) and the yarn is another unknown destash (I know it's lace weight and mostly alpaca, but that's it) 🧶 #knitsky

I didn't get any pre-blocking photos, but my fellow lace knitters will be all too familiar with the "sad crumpled dishcloth" stage. Pattern is Moss and Fern Lace shawl by Anne-Lise Maigaard. The yarn had no labels, but I think it's a merino silk blend. 🧶 #knitsky

Sometimes it's the tiny things that can bring joy. I treated myself to a pair of egg rings earlier in the week (I only needed one, but they come in pairs) and this weekend I made myself the most delicious egg and bacon muffin, with perfectly round fried egg.

oh dear lord, the pixelation... #taskmaster

It probably won't mean much to most people, but I'm very pleased indeed with the finishing on the back of this embroidery 🪡 #craftsky #embroidery

Stayed up to finish Black River Orchard by @chuckwendig.bsky.social - might be a little while before I want to try an unfamiliar apple variety...

I've finished the bargain Corinne Lapierre embroidery kit that I picked up at the charity shop! I am trying not to listen to my inner perfectionist, who can only see the flaws. Now to decide what to do with it... #craftsky #embroidery

Bit of an unusual visitor to the bird feeder this morning...

In which we begin the final phase of the project - hoping there's enough yarn to finish this repeat and cast off. 🧶

You know when you're near the end of a knitting project and just ready to be done with it, but the actual end doesn't seem to get any closer no matter how much you knit? Yeah, that 🧶

They might not be as colourful as some of the other avian visitors, but I do love the jackdaws when they make a visit... #BirdSky #BirdsOfBluesky

One third of my crochet temperature blanket is complete! We've had some unseasonably warm weather here recently, so I've already had to bring in the peach and pink shades. 🧶 #crochet #CrochetSky #TemperatureBlanket

Rough day today. It's ten years since the grand mal seizure that was the first sign of the glioblastoma that would eventually kill my husband. He'd done the London marathon in sub 3 hours the day before, so it was completely out of the blue.
