Luka damn near putting up a triple double in the first half is so perfect. Nico Harrison telling himself “we knew it would be hard, but we made the right decision” while making eye contact with exactly no one on the bus after the game.

Hello from Glendale where I am 2nd row at SheBelieves because my wife is great and this is what we call a birthday present 🥹

We're all gonna focus on Sentnor's bombazo, but make sure you're also clocking Tara McKeown using body shape to disguise her passing intentions. Sentnor has all that space because Colombia can't close her, because they have to respect McKeown's fake. Big part of her game. #USWNT

a real midfielding midfielder and a straight up shooter, might have tears in my eyes

Holy shit Ally Sentnor just detonated. That was just absolutely ridiculous. Unstoppable shot after a hell of a move to get free. Wow. #USWNT

How much of the NBA’s problems are about the way basketball has evolved? Is the best way to win a basketball game flying in the face of what consumers want as entertainment? @clintonyates.bsky.social joined the show yesterday to discuss. youtu.be/_84oRS42B2o

This story from The Athletic is horrifying to read if you have ANY knowledge of abuse/trauma. This is literally textbook. I sincerely hope Rybakina has some kind of intervention, not only in the relationship, but therapeutically so she doesn’t fall into this again. www.nytimes.com/athletic/613...

Arike might be the best 1-on-1 player in the WNBA, but Aaliyah just absolutely stomped her. Absolutely loving this 🔥 #Unrivaled

The Mayor's office has a new website outlining their plans for the RFK site. This is such a small thing, but also is it? They use the old Spirit logo. The one that's been retired for nearly two years. How hard is it to get it right? And have people who know stuff actually proofread? ourrfk.dc.gov

Holy…

Chiefs total yards: 65 Hurts to Smith: 46 yards This is unreal. An absolute demolition unlike we’ve seen in a decade.

But other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?

Every bit of good luck the Chiefs have had this year has been balanced in this first half. That was unreal.

I cannot remember ever seeing Mahomes this flustered. His feet are a mess. He has no idea where he wants to go. Now he’s flat out not seeing guys. Just a bizarrely non-Mahomesian performance.

Spags hits a Cover 0 to end a drive and push Philly out of FG range but it's offsides for lining up in the neutral zone. Cannot make those kinds of mistakes

That call sucks too! Eagles fans will obviously take it after the last one, but why can’t the refs just be right? That’s so soft. So terrible.

That first throw from Mahomes was so ridiculous. I cannot get over how sick that was. His whole body was to the flat and he just absolutely lasered it to the slant. I think it was no look too. Insane.

Don’t like the call. The fact that Brown’s hand goes to the DB’s face makes it slightly less atrocious, but that kind of contact happens on every play and absolutely doesn’t need to be called.

Jayden Daniels officially wins the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year. The fact that it was a no brainer considering how good this rookie class was speaks to just how great he was. Truly phenomenal.

Big topic today on the show is obviously the Wizards activity at the trade deadline. They did A TON of work, which I believe we've correctly summarized here. @joshrobbins.bsky.social joins at 5pm to discuss it all!

Dan joining us for his final official visit of the 2024-25 season today at 4:30pm to talk Super Bowl. I say official, but he's already told us he's releasing his FA list on Monday and there's a definite chance he's joining us to talk about that next week 😂

#NWSL was found to have violated players' civil rights & must create a $5 million restitution fund, among a lengthy list of steps being overseen by attorneys general from D.C., Illinois, and New York. New from me for USA TODAY, the details of a landmark settlement: www.usatoday.com/story/sports...

Not knowing what was coming (obviously), we did a Train With The Best episode on Friday about how misunderstood athleticism is, especially based on aesthetics. If you want to be smarter when talking about athletes and athleticism, listen to this: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

A little confused on the return here for Washington. Johnson was a 1st rounder this past year, so he's kinda a 1st round pick, I guess? Middleton is a great vet that'll be good to have around (if they don't buy him out), but I definitely feel like I"m missing something here.

Any music junkie followers - is this the best crop of new artists in modern memory? Literally anyone in this Grammy category could win and I’d be like “sure, that’s cool.” So many of the songs of the year are from new artists, and those performances were outstanding.

The Luka trade getting a joke in the Grammy’s is a different level of notoriety. This trade is a cultural reference and it’s not even 24 hours old 🥲

Luka and the Mavs lost to the Celtics last year, a team that didn’t bail on its clearly generational superstar and instead just kept building and building around him until they won it all. And the lesson they took from that was that defense wins championships? So trade Luka? Like. What???

The stories that are about to come out of Dallas are going to be so interesting. Trading a 25 year old superstar in his prime the year after you made the NBA finals is so obscenely unheard of that I truly cannot wrap my mind around it.

It’s crazy how much more together the Wizards look tonight with Brogdon on the floor. You put him, Jonas, Poole, and Kispert on the floor together and suddenly you get pretty quality NBA basketball.

How did Indy give up a better player and better pick than they received? It’s like there’s a piece missing on Indy’s line of this.

He’s the president’s biggest donor, he gets a west wing office, he gets to oust the administrator of the federal aviation administration, he gets to send emails to the entire federal workforce trying to scam them out of their pensions, and he’s a nazi.

Yesterday was the best of what local radio can be. It was a community coming together to talk about a magical season. It also helps that the people we were rooting for were good, and after a caller was emotional discussing it, I reflected on just how different it all felt. youtu.be/C0Kvnlrht6I

More like Championshit Sunday, amirite? 🙄 Two great teams going to the Super Bowl, but absolutely no one wanted this.

Would’ve loved to see some more replays. Looks like Kincaid had it in his chest and just dropped it. Feel awful for the Bills. Played their faces off. This Chiefs team is unreal. So unlike-able in so many ways, but undeniably great.

How many more times are the #Bills gonna run their version of the tush push and have it fail when they have James Cook on a regular play and/or Allen on a QB Power with a running start from the gun as EXCELLENT alternative options???

This final score is gonna be absolutely brutal, but I gotta give Quinn credit for trying to shake the shots to win the game instead of cosmetic game maintenance. That said. This was a butt kicking. Washington had so many chances, but the better team won by a lot.

Will be live solo style on Take Command (YT: Team 980, my page, 106.7 The Fan) to put a bow on this game and the season after the final whistle. Bitter end to a magical season. Hard to find the words, but I’ll give it my best shot.

This game has come down to turnovers and talent, which are related. Washington trying to do too much at times, leading to turnovers. Then Philly has been able to destroy them in man coverage because of a talent advantage. Front has been okay both ways, but they don’t have BALLERS on either line.

Thing is - they work on ball security and preach it all the time. Clearly they need to do it with people in green shirts doing all the punching.
