Vancouver Island recently enjoyed two weeks of snow - the night hikes were spectacular, with the moonlight shadows creating a sublime peacefulness that you truly have to experience to understand. #crankygoat #VancouverIsland

The first waves of turquoise blue Pacific herring spawn has appeared off the west coast of Vancouver Island in 2025, as fish return in big numbers.

In the fall the barred owls teach their young how to hunt for fish and crayfish in the creek. There is a lot for them to learn, how to spot and how to avoid getting pinched while eating etc. These shots were taken at dusk, no flash used.
