When the Soviet Union collapsed, Ukraine inherited the world’s third largest nuclear arsenal. They handed them over because they didn’t need them, because the US guaranteed their independence and sovereignty. The lesson 30 years later? If you have nukes, KEEP them. If you don’t have them, GET them.
