The only Gulf of America I recognize is the gaping intellectual chasm between the kinds of people that call it The Gulf of America and the rest of us trying to grin and bear it.

What show are you finally getting around to watching? I am finishing up Orphan Black and starting Impulse and holy fuck they’re both fantastic.

A seal? Should we eat it?

If you ever have a few hours to kill in Baltimore, this is lowkey the greatest museum in America. www.avam.org

The way Irv said “Do it, Seth!” in last night’s #Severance episode took me back to 5th grade gym class when Steve Bowen taunted our teacher Mr. Boyd into a game of dodgeball by yelling “Bring it on, Geoffrey!” and got immediately sent to the principal’s office.

The new Severance episode is a whole damn season

Hey @aftermidnightcbs.bsky.social @taylortomlinson.bsky.social - why no love on this platform? We can at least hold our own in a hashtag limited engagement, and honestly it kinda feels we’re gearing up for war over here.

I’m proposing a new measurement system for tailors: Tailor’s Foot = 13 inches (1 extra for seam allowance) Hemsworth = 1/2 a Tailor’s Foot Fistywidth = 1/2 a Hemsworth Knucklish = 1/2 a Fistywidth Thimbling = 1/2 a Knucklish These can only be spoken in a British accent.

#Severance conspiracy theory after last night’s episode: “Severance” is not splitting the innie and outie as much as it is severing consciousness from the body. SPOILER: That really looked like Helly in Cobel’s body after their call to the board for a “reset.”

“the grass is always greener on the other side” implies I give a fuck about lawn maintenance

It would never have been in the Oscars conversation, but my absolute favorite film of 2024 was Things Will be Different. @felker.bsky.social created something that truly felt like a small glimpse into a much larger & darker abyss! Eerie, tense layered narrative. Great for a rewatch too.

Honestly surprised Clint Eastwood didn’t get an Oscar nomination for Juror #2. The pacing was a masterclass in restrained, laser-focused storytelling. It’s getting rarer to see (non-horror) films where the director’s influence is palpable in every scene.

Seems wild to me that I Saw The TV Glow didn’t get any Oscar love. Sound design - solid 10/10. Cinematography - hauntingly beautiful. Fred Durst. What more does the academy want??
