We build parking lots for machines, and then wonder why we feel disconnected. Let's build parks for people. A great example from Melbourne. The project 'A Park Close to Home' aims to create and improve access to open space in areas of Merri-bek, in areas without parks within walking distance.

That’s better. Greening up is good for you, for the air that you breathe & the neighbours with whom you live. It helps communities coalesce & encourages more active living. It’s great for children provides a natural fulcrum for community activity …

Five storeys of new. Modernity has many faces.

While the weather is still pretty chilly, we're looking ahead to the upcoming Create Streets Foundation Urban Design and Architecture summer school ✏️An intensive residential course on how to design beautiful, sustainable, prosperous, economically and socially successful places.

British developers, politicians & officials are entirely unaware of the sheer quality, traditional beauty & popular appeal of Paris’s new suburbs, tripling density, respecting local preferences, creating sustainable new Gentle Density in communion with past, present & future.

One for the tram lovers. Key point is that our cities should have far more powers to raise funds & make transport investments locally. David (of @createstreets.bsky.social) is right, this kind of thinking should be central to Labour’s house building plans (ie enabling transit oriented development)

“No place, person, or institution echoes through British history as joyfully as the pub. From Chaucer’s pilgrims departing The Tabard, to The Queen Vic in Eastenders, local boozers have always taken centre stage in British life." says Nicholas Boys Smith on our new report with @bbpa.bsky.social

Just one place left for the Dare to Draw course this February! ✏️If you want to draw some beautiful buildings and streets then consider coming along - www.createstreetsfoundation.org.uk/dare-to-draw/

This is a former warehouse in Leeds. Nothing, literally nothing, NEEDS to be ugly...

Another old part of London is to be new again. 11 years after the exhibition centre was demolished, 160 years after railways arrived, >900 years since de Vere family first built their eponymous manor house, Earl’s Court is being remade from the cleared earth. www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/desti...

Thank heavens for Ely Cathedral
