@theretrochannel.bsky.social Can the the 1084S accept S-Video signals via the SCART connector? IE: Can a C64 to SCART cable work on the 1084?

HP 3311A Function Generator from 1974. Still works fine.

Is it just me or has social media degenerated into decidedly anti-social media?

Anyone else fed up with web sites hiding the prices of their products? If I go to a products page I expect the price to be predominantly displayed, not on a stupid click through. Apple being the worst, but I notice so many others doing it as well.

The only way #AI will destroy humanity is because the #Agile #MVP philosophy will cause a game breaking bug the deletes humans. No malice, just #ShitSofwareEverywhere.

My #Amiga 1000 now has ETHERNET and TCP.

Finished the write up for my IMSAI 8080 Replica. git.grumpyoldfart.id.au:9090/rcrook/imsai...

ALso recently got a uTerm-S, once more a basic Serial Terminal board that can be used on numerous serial based projects. Not as sophisticated as the Versa Term but can use a VGA monitor and PS2 keyboard. Here its on an older Z180 project of mine the MinZ.

Recent purchases, A Versa Term 1.2 and a 68K-MBC, The Versa Term is a Serial Terminal board that can plug into a monitor (VGA/DVI/HDMI) and run a VT102/ANSI emulation. It also uses a usb keyboard. The 60K-MBC is a 68008 base computer that run CP-M/68K. Very cool boards.

Got my #MicroBeast working and it looks really nice.

Dead Internet Reality. When the Advertisers realize they are advertising to no body but bots... Who don't buy anything.

The DECpc AXP-150 was an Alpha Architecture based workstation of the 90's that I used while working with S.M.H.E.A. I restored this one after getting from a collector in Sydney. Quite a beast. git.grumpyoldfart.id.au:9090/rcrook/decpc...

Another piece of HP kit I used in a previous career iteration is the HP85B "Personal Computer". An awesome 80's all in one that was the mainstay of test control environments. This one I managed score and restored to mostly working condition. git.grumpyoldfart.id.au:9090/rcrook/hp85b...

I miss the old HP. Back when their engineering was respected and revered. I spent years working with HP equipment and learned to love it. This piece the HP5036A was a tool I used when learning machine code and it was a pleasure restoring it. git.grumpyoldfart.id.au:9090/rcrook/hp503...

Working on a #MicroBeast. I have it together but every time I press a key the system reboots. I will check my soldering tonight.

Found a great case for my #otterX16. The Otter is a #commanderx16 clone in kit form I just built.

I started playing with Linux in 1993 when a friend gave me a copy of SLS Linux on 13 5.25" floppy disks. And while Linux has been my daily grind at work for over a decade now, I only just three months ago, switched to Linux on my Alienware gaming laptop. Worth it. #gaming #linux

So I have been testing capture on my otter X12, Using OSB, Kdenlive, an OSSC on my Linux Alienware R15. Sound recorded via a cheap aliexpress sounds dongle and video captured via a cheap aliexpress hdmi capture dongle. #CommanderX16 #otterX16

I picked these up a couple of weekends back for $AU50. All have their power supplies but only one works. They all need a going over and even the working one has a dodgy power switch so Ill be restoring them all. What do you think Do you like the bubble LED displays and the Reverse Polish entry?

New project to build.💾

"Subscriptions to services like Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Music accounted for almost 85% of the money spent on music last year." Subscribers pay on average 2.4 cents to listen to a track on Spotify - of which 0.4 cents go to the artist, if they get enough of an audience. 🧵

I have been wanting a NIXIE clock for years and I found what I thought was a kit up on tindie for about $AU110 out of Ukraine. It Showed up today and I love it. It has that awesome home made feel with the boards looking like they were etched in the kitchen, no solder mask and tinned traces.

Did some thorough play testing of this thing today and I think this revision is good to go. More details soon #commodore #vic20

@theretrochannel.bsky.social is there something I can tweak on a standard breadbin that will clear this crap up? I am holding off changing the RF mod out as I am trying the keep this one as dog standard as possible..

OtterX16 build complete. Not bad for a modern 8 bit retro computer.

Finally got all the blinken lights setup.

After months of procrastination I finally fix and finished the IMSAI8080 replica kit. I had not initially installed the rear acrylic panel reinforcement pieces in the corners. I* learned the hard way that the acrylic panel itself was not strong enough to hold the whole think together.

Pretty flora from a pleasant walk a couple of day back.

Just finished building this PiDP-10 kit. Many Blinken Lights.
