Regional climate centers are back online. Top of the page reads: "Thank you to everyone who expressed their strong support for the Regional Climate Center program. Our funding has been restored by NOAA and the Department of Commerce."

Iowa is doing Iowa things tonight.

Reposting my comments about this- I was an AmeriCorps volunteer for 18 months in 1994-95 & helped w/everything inc. turning old rails into trails; repairing a flooded town; helping w/ Special Olympics. Gave me a wide range of experiences as a 19-20 yr old & also helped paying for 2 yrs of college.

Yes!!! We are back in the late 19th Century & early 20th Century. Let’s hope our ways of receiving and communicating weather doesn’t go back to that era - although it feels like we are.

This REALLY pisses me off!! I was an AmeriCorps volunteer for 18 months in 1994-95 & helped with everything from turning old rails into trails to painting of homes to helping with Special Olympics. It gave me a wide range of experiences as a 19-20 year old.

I fully expect other NWS offices to adopt the same changes & reductions in service. This administration is taking the "Service" out of National Weather Service & these changes plus significant staff reductions will KILL people.

It’s ironic that an ideology of “making America great” is actually taking some of the great things we do and destroying them.

Lowlights: * Only 1 per day hand-edited forecasts * Permanent 1 per day balloon launches if 25%+ vacancy at office * No balloon launches if an office goes to 3 shifts/day * Reduced shifts * Combining offices The world's example for weather services is being destroyed.

Here's Trump saying to Bukele that "homegrown criminals are next" and talking about how El Salvador will need to build "about five more places."

Before press came in — but while live feed was running on Bukele’s feed — Trump said to him: “home-growns are next. … You’re gonna need to build about 5 more places.” x.com/nayibbukele/...

Go to about the 7:05-ish mark in the video & you will hear this terrifying whisper of a talk. I had to hear it for myself to believe it. Yes, the mango nazi wants to disappear a lot more of us, including "home-grown" US citizens. WTAF. cc: @maddow.msnbc.com

This makes no sense to me (of course nothing makes sense anymore). She is a US born citizen, but is still being forced to leave the US. If this is the case, then it is absolutely terrifying for EVERYONE!! Or did the author of this e-mail fuck up (wouldn't be surprised) & sent it to the wrong person

We’re not going to make it, are we?? These cuts would be absolutely devastating for NOAA and would set the weather community back at least 30-40 years.

Beer-Thirty has started early for the HRRR model. Not buying at all that much snow for Southern New England later tonight & Saturday morning. #mawx #wxsky

This is the absolute stupidest, most asinine thing ever. These people are terrible at management. Again, NOAA and the NWS are being gutted for almost no deficit savings while costing the economy and potentially people’s lives significantly.

All I’m gonna say is good, but my god if we have to do this for 3-4 more years I’m gonna get multiple ulcers.

Awesome first inning of the @redsox.com home opener at Fenway. Back to back home runs (Story & then Abreu). Score 5-0. Nice!!

An update on this story for @science.org: A NOAA source tells me that OAR just had a reprieve to find another cloud-services host and that this contract will not be killed at midnight. Good news -- but indicative of the chaos that Commerce is putting NOAA through.

If a ton of NWS websites go down, it would lead to catastrophic degardation of services, inc. losing MRMS national radar data, access to NWS warnings & acess to model data. We would pratically have to pull out difax machines to start printing out weather charts again.

hey um, the National Weather Service is getting screwed. apparently tons of websites are set to go dark tonight because of lack of funds. Weather forecasters are saying this is going to affect warnings and predictions *immediately*

To be quite honest and clear: This is a big f***ing problem.

I KNEW IT! NWS Louisville doesn’t have enough staffing to cover NWS surveys. They now have to verify tornadoes via social media pictures.

I don't care how different our worldviews are, I will never wish a tragedy on someone else. Seeing posts about people deserving a tornado or a flood because they voted a certain way makes me want to rage. That's not how we build community. That's how we get more divided than we already are.

Massive, violent tornado on Brandon Copic's livestream near Lake City AR. Holy crap.

TORNADO EMERGENCY for Lake City, Arkansas!! #wxsky #arwx
