This is a concession by the U.S. government that its “arrangement” with El Salvador is irrevocable. To me this has to be grounds to argue that the arrangement itself is unconstitutional under the Fifth and Eighth Amendments

The Danes are making a huge mistake. Expansionism is on Trump’s agenda. This is a step toward that. apple.news/AyuZIkaf0Tha...

don't be snowed we're gonna invade panama and hold the canal hostage

Again, that Musk/DOGE penetrated this deep into the government this quickly is the most damning indictment of supposed American norms and guardrails imaginable. These are fuckin pirates; unelected, unappointed, unqualified marauders. A functional country would have laughed them out of the building.

These are the worst pigs in the universe torturing all children in a not very wealthy state because the chief pig feels personally slighted, and also is demanding other children be tortured and humiliated as he demands. Of course we can't frame it this way in polite discourse for some reason.

Hey #FOIA fans want to do your part to make it easier to get DOGE records? Easy peasy. Send a short (polite!) email to [email protected] and say, please make it possible to submit electronic FOIA requests to the U.S. DOGE Service through FOIA.gov. That's all. I'll take it from there.

Welp, got an answer to this question: Apparently the answer is no tariffs are being collected. Trump broke the system www.cnbc.com/2025/04/11/c...

If I were Judge Xinis, I would order the government to produce, in her courtroom, officials who were in a position to answer her questions and to do so under oath. Letting DOJ continue to prevaricate and deflect responsibility in written submissions seems ... insufficient at this point.

"rich people went insane because their own kids couldn't cut it in even in the half-assed version of 'meritocracy' where rich kids are merely handed dozens of advantages rather than guaranteed success" explains a lot of how we got here

Total federal spending is up +8% in 2025 year-to-date on April 9 over 2024. The illusion that the fed govt is tightening its belt is contradicted by its own real-time expenditure data. Admin spectacularly hammering some things but raising spending elsewhere. Was -7% just after Inauguration Day.

Judge Xinis is not playing: "Defendants’ act of sending Garcia to El Salvador was wholly illegal from the moment it happened...the Defendants’ suggestion that they need time to meaningfully review a four-page Order that reaffirms this basic principle blinks at reality"

In the future, every country will be tariffed for 15 minutes.

AOC: “Any member of Congress who purchased stocks in the last 48 hours should probably disclose that now. I’ve been hearing some interesting chatter on the floor. Disclosure deadline is May 15th. We’re about to learn a few things. It’s time to ban insider trading in Congress.”
