I will probably talk about Sounders and other ⚽ and life as a Seattle expat living in Amsterdam. Oh and F1. Masters TFT player, most every set.

This is a really good article. I think the reluctance to engage by this generation of #USMNT players is two-fold. 1- They've largely come up in Europe where the media is kept much more distant than what we are accustomed to in America. 2- They were never made fun of as kids for playing soccer.

Schifrin gets her 100th World Cup victory! Crushed the second slalom run in Italy. I've been watching way too much ski racing lately for some reason. Americans finish 1st and 3rd.

Today in Every Day a New Horror, the chances of power outages here in the PNW is about to astronomically increase, because DOGE is ripping wires out of the walls of our power grid for no fucking reason, of course. Time to buy a generator. Cool cool. via @thestranger.com

Bodo/Glint v FC Twente in the Europa League knockout playoff was 2-3 going into only 5 minute of added time. In five minutes it's gone: 3-3 4-3 4-4 Off to extra time we go after utter chaos in Norway.

As someone that would like PSV (well really Ajax, but I think PSV is more realistic) to buy Obed Vargas this summer, PSV advancing to the round of 16 and knocking out Juventus in the Champions League definitely gives them more money to spend.

I would love for him to come to Ajax for selfish reason, but PSV seems more likely. Earnie Stewart is fond of Americans. Sounders sell for $10M + 20% sell on fee, Obed has a 10g/10A Eredivisie season (defending here is comical), a good showing in the Champs League and an EPL team buys him for €50M.

Hopefully HP paid Ferrari a fortune to ruin that traditional red car. Huge white patches all over the car. #F1

I like how Danny Leyva has just committed to the 75. You do you.

It was -3C when I went on the school drop off via cargo bike, even I wore pants. Friday it's supposed to be 16C, the weather is crazy. That's 27F to 61F. Today was hopefully my last pants day of the year on the commute.

I was trying to explain to a friend back in Seattle just how far North Amsterdam is (52.4N) versus Seattle (47.6N) It's about the same difference as Seattle and Bandon Oregon 43.1N (almost Medford 42.3N, target is 42.8N) The biggest offshoot is that our winters are even darker than Seattle.

Spot on.

What are the add-ons? Don't leave us in suspense. Great move by Colorado, and honestly a good move by Atencio. He needs a virtual guaranteed starting spot to become what he will be and that probably wasn't happening in Seattle.

As a Masters 0 LP player, this makes total sense. I'm pretty good at making econ while keeping my board viable, but I know there's things I could do better.

I'm watching Feyenoord v Milan game on the iPad with Liverpool on the big TV. And I'm like the weather sucks there, Pulisic looks miserable. Then I look outside and...oh yeah that's only 45 miles away. It sucks here right now as well. I sometimes forget how close most of the big Dutch cities are.

The fact that Ozzie Alonso only made MLS Best XI once is ridiculous. No one votes for D-Mids but they are the heart and soul of your team. But congrats to Ozzie on the Apple MLS commentary deal, that's what lead me down this rabbit hole.

My child is 7 years old. Before today he's only puked twice in his life, both pretty traumatic as it was on a train to Paris projectile vomit on a stranger, and while we were on holiday on an island. But since last night he made up for lost time. This was not something I missed dealing with.

It's been so.lomg since I've been to the movies that I totally failed to read the start time of 9:35 and was hustling to get there at 9:15. My personal theater (for now) for Interstellar.

Civ 7 is fun. Carry on with your day.

Another crappy day, but dinner turned out good. Control what you can.

A good summary of my day would be it's just past midnight and I'm going to bed, but I dropped my phone in the toilet. And that's like the 7th worst thing to happen today. Let's try again tomorrow.

"What tf is all this and why should I care" we said in 1999, little knowing that Padme Amidala would be the prophet of our times

Still getting my head around this Luka for AD trade that I woke up to. Something strange is going on with Dallas, Cuban strangely sells the team for reasons that remain unclear, now the new owners make a putrid trade. Never trade Luka, but if you are going to you could have gotten so much more.

"We have fought and died alongside you....During your darkest hours...we were always there. Standing with you, grieving with you, the American people.” I’ve had my differences with Justin Trudeau, for sure, but he rose to the occasion here.

Gonna be nice to see the Sounders absolutely smoke some Danish dudes in 20 minutes.

The new Champions League group stage swiss format is a huge win for me. But the last day potential of 18 concurrent games and the table moving like crazy kind of fizzled. Another year it could be epic, this year...fizzle. Still a big improvement.

It turns out if you play 18 Champions League games concurrently, there are going to be a LOT of goal. #UCL

So I finally did the math and last year I rode about 12,800 km. I got the Zwift bike in May and put 3890 km in. 1995 km on my starter road bike, 700 km on the new road bike and approximately 5500 km on the cargo bike for school runs and Oliver taxi. Plus about 800 km on holiday rental bikes.

@seanfennessey.bsky.social what podcast did you refer to on the Rewatchables where Richard Linklater told the story of what inspired the Before Sunrise story? Thanks in advance.

It's pretty much just this

Sneaky great sports day today. The Australian Open Women's Final just finished and was epic. Kitzbuhel Men's downhill, there's a cyclocross race all before EPL and all the other soccer gets going.

I mean, this is not a surprise. I'm sure Miami isn't playing in US Open Cup either. At some point there's a limit to the amount of games/competitions a team can partake in.

Will the last player to leave FC Dallas please turn off the lights?

I've said it before, but now that we are in Matchday 7 of 8: The new Swiss format for the Champions League is so much better. We are never going back.

The end of Extratime really blows. In a sea of corporate talk, bro talk, and gambling ads, ETR was just a bunch of soccer dorks. Over the years the characters changed but they were almost always really genuine people who didn’t take themselves too seriously but gave great insight
