Lighting Strikes – Lou Christie Passes Doug Payne let me know that Lou Christie had passed on. Every time I hear someone from the Creed Taylor pantheon has passed, regret always sets in. I toyed with getting in touch with Lou back when I wrote about Creed's "Three Brothers" label and music…

On deck now, a little known Dave Matthews Trio album, of the 3,000 plus vinyl albums I have, this one sounds most like an actual live trio playing in the living room.

Anyone here use Audacity? It's so weird to watch an app you've used for 15-years to record and master hundreds of vinyl records for the digital age, chasing the digital age by offering plug-ins that add vinyl clicks/pops into digital recordings while offering no improvement for actual vinyl noise

Once Polygram was in the picture there was so much more... I'm still waiting for a honest book about that period.

Doug Payne has his review of the little known Lalo Schifrin album from 1968 that I did the research for. It's a great read. dougpayne.com/lalo-schifri... You can find the tracks in user uploads on youtube. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NklC...

Jazz is... Rock and roll is .. Country music is dead. The computer has killed the music genre... Oh, oh.. bsky.app/profile/phil...

Morning All. A four post thread on muzak 🧵 "Elevator Music by Joseph Lanza is the best music biz book I've read in a while. Originally published in 1994.

Vinyl Me Woes What a reissue? Don't expect anything from "Vinyl Me, Please" - doubly bad news for me, as they were "local".

Doing a quick research sweep for August 1967 for a writer, this is quite an advert for Lalo Schifrin. From the LA Times August 2nd, 1967 Page-58. The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich - where is Lalo when you need him most?

Morning all. A lot to do today. Starting out with the "Creed Taylor Classics" playlist on Spotify. Yeah, I know, don't @ me.

I had meant to drive to Trinidad Colorado today to lay some flowers on the grave of Ronnie Lane. I only saw Ronnie live once on my first trip to Austin TX, he already was in very poor shape from MS. I'm in tears now. I forgot. Please join me for a few minutes and share in Plonks best.

Morning all. Finally tracked down a clean stereo copy of this album to make a digital copy of. It's a very odd album featuring a lot of sound effects and musical styles and needs careful compression so the sound levels are not all over the place. In mono that was easier to do. #jazzsky
