A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

🚨BREAKING: Federal Court GRANTS sweeping nationwide injunction against Trump DEI executive orders finding that they violate First and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution. A huge victory for @democracyforward.org and its clients. A stinging loss for Trump. Visit www.democracydocket.com for details.

I’m telling you @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, please watch this. This is the energy. Not egg prices and book tours and strongly worded letters. It’s time to take the gloves off.

There’s something happening in this country.

DOGE recommended firing workers at: -FDA, which oversees Neuralink -FAA, which oversees SpaceX -USAID, which probed Starlink -CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X. "Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

Incompetence in Washington puts every American at risk, no matter how you voted. No one should be happy that the DOGE team - the same folks who randomly published classified U.S. security information online today - wants access to your bank account & Social Security numbers.

is the goal merit or is the goal segregation?

If DOGE was really looking for fraud, wouldn't they have hired accountants instead of programmers?

What if history just didn't repeat itself, for once?

If our country survives this crisis, I hope the experience will show Americans 2 important things: 1. That government is a necessary good--not the evil that Ronald Reagan warned us about. Air traffic control & food safety inspections are great, actually. 2. We have to enforce the laws on rich ppl.

The Papua New Guinea Courier is in rare form.

My mind keeps drifting to an alternate universe in which Harris and Walz are in the White House and I can dream big about the future, rather than strategizing for mere survival.

As long as I live, I will never forgive Mitch McConnell for both causing irreparable damage to the Supreme Court, and not voting to convict Donald Trump.

3 hours to leave her house. This is how they treat a 4-star Admiral and Commandant of the Coast Guard. www.nbcnews.com/politics/don...

The rush to destroy things like USAID and other agencies before lawsuits can stop them is to make it moot. When our stupidly slow judicial system finally moves to stop them it will be far too late. If all 10,000 USAID employees are home and projects abandoned it’s done. It’s evil.

ok, so basically I'm trying to make this post go viral.

The same people wailing about DEI literally can’t spell their own job title.

Excellent post

I appear on @CNN often. And if saying this means my days at CNN are over, then fuck it. CNN, removing @Acosta.bsky.social from his am show is cowardly bullshit. Acosta is an independent, unafraid host. To demote him to appease the crybaby in the White House is pathetic. Shame on u CNN. Don’t do it.

Epic courage here.

In January 20, 1961, the temperature at noon was 22 degrees and 8 inches of snow had fallen in the morning. John F. Kennedy still had his inauguration on the steps of the Capitol.

Yep

Californians are no strangers to hate, but the hate we’re getting during these unprecedented fires is next level. Look into it—when other states face disasters, California steps up to help, no questions asked. Our governor and leaders don’t trash-talk the states in need! #AngelinoStrong 👊🏽

I've been trying to understand why I feel the particular flavor of distressed that I do right now. I think it's because we can no longer discuss the lessons we should be learning from any kind of disaster without the worst chucklefucks coming out of the woodwork to wreck everything.

JUST IN: Another team of Mexican firefighters has landed in LA to help combat the wildfires. Thank you, Mexico 🇲🇽🇺🇸

The latest cover of The New Yorker ahead of Inauguration Day.

In his amicus brief on release of the special counsel report, Trump argues: “As the President-Elect and soon-to-be 47th President, President Trump has an interest in a smooth transition and efficacious vesting of executive power." And irony is dead right there.

Thank you!

So disrespectful.

Seems like the FBI finding 150 homemade bombs at the home of a guy who uses Biden’s picture for target practice should be a bigger story. Apparently he may get released on a $25,000 bond. More: abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory...

🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🤦

The House Ethics Committee report on Matt Gaetz is everything Republicans dreamed Hunter Biden’s laptop would be.

Oh the shade!

Oh-so-devout Mike Johnson tried to block the ethics committee report from being released. Why? Because he didn’t want the American people to know that Matt Gaetz was doing drugs while WORKING and paying high schoolers for sex. “Christian” Mike Johnson didn’t want anyone to know.
