The concept of sacrifice is really powerful to me. The title of this story references a Biblical parable wherein a man sold all he had to obtain a great treasure. The magic in this story explores just how much a person might sacrifice for what or who they treasure most. @intrepidusink

Magical realism takes our already pretty fantastical world and imagines if it were JUST a little more so. If the magic distracts you or replaces real emotions, I feel I’ve missed the mark. I want the magic to help us explore something real. @intrepidusink

Journalism taught me so many things I still use at work and while writing fiction...from writing compelling narratives to listening. The most valuable lesson reporting taught me was that every single person has a story worth telling, full of weight and emotion and color. @intrepidusink.bsky.social
