Coalition of the sane.

It's a thing called precedent.

It is time to create an 'Axis of Sanity' that starts in Canada and ends in Australia and New Zealand. Enough is enough.

The first meaningful analyses of the practical devastation to follow the despicable slashing of USAID projects are starting to be identified. apnews.com/article/trum...

I am very pleased to be speaking on the topic of international law and the resolution of groundwater disputes in the Middle East and Africa in Riyadh. @ASSELLMU

Dismantling the death penalty is a responsibility that belongs to all of us. Inspiring to see how a group of nuns are trying to save women on death row in Texas: www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

An apparently serious statement that the USA will "take" Gaza is utterly inconsistent with bedrock international law and has no place in our world.

@USAID is enduring an unlawful shutdown, purge, and dismantling. It’s thrown its vital work into turmoil—based on spurious, absurd, and willfully slanted attacks. Here's what’s real: the massive and growing harm now being caused. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/01/h...

Article 49, Geneva IV. Enough said.

Distressingly, one of the first executive orders is to make wildly false claims about the death penalty and call for its wider use in the US. As a long-term death penalty advocate and campaigner the call for more state killings is deeply disturbing. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

Today the Society turns 119 years old! We were formally established on this day in 1906 at the NYC Bar Association by people who wanted to prevent war and make peace. Our activities have broadened since, but we still serve the same mission. Find out more at asil.org/about.

Sydney, The Hague, London, Malta. A very full week of challenging international law work on complex human rights matters, climate change and capital punishment. Beginning with the ILA Australia event to celebrate former President Margaret Brewster and ending with the launch of new ILA Malta Branch.

Tomorrow the execution of Masoud Rahimi, aged 34 is intended in Singapore. He was only 20 when arrested. This is a continuing horror and one of many healthy precious lives taken needlessly iland cruelly in the past weeks.
