Ha ha if you really hate it .. mark it up as "go me I know how to do brioche" then unravel it all and knit something fun !! It's entrelac that drives me loopy and I once got halfway through a sweater before sanity returned and I frogged it !

If isolda teague can't help maybe you could try the Shetland textiles museum www.shetlandmuseumandarchives.org.uk/visit/galler... That +-+border is very distinctive . They might have a record

I'm trying direct sowing in milk bottles (as mini greenhouses in the cold frame ) this year . Mostly I start things off indoors then move to greenhouse . Last year was my worst gardening year ever , so cold for so long . Hoping for better this year !

Also if you don't already have one get a rotary cutter and ruler it makes cutting strips much easier and more accurate. I think this pattern has originally been designed for jelly roll strips hence the lack of direction in instructions .

Your fabric most likely to be 44 inches wide. So I'd cut my strips across the width then cut down from there . I'd start with the smallest and work up. You can piece together a bigger piece from left overs if you run out .

I use a draftsman adjustable stool so I'm leaning on it with straight legs which helps with back pain. The trick I think is to find the perfect height for working that doesn't leave you all hunched over ! You can get a tiltable that angles the machine , that might help .

Matter if you're bad at it . Noone learns a new skill and is perfect at it . Try something , anything, it's often as important to find out what you don't like doing .waste time doodling , writing a fancy signature, learn a poem or fav song off by heart . Make mayonnaise, grow a seed , dance goodluck

I think it's mostly about getting started that's the hardest . New stuff is always hard till it isn't . Next time you eat swap your cutlery over , you will find it really hard if not impossible. Such a simple thing yet you're suddenly crap at it ! Find the things that make you happy and it doesnt

I once made a silk suit in bright pink . It was fitted and tailored and had all sorts of fancy detail added . The thing I'm probably proudest of making . I never wore it , not even once . I gave it to charity years ago but I'm still happy I made it so make the blouse ! It will make your heart sing
