I may never shut up about this, but calling someone a 4th liner while also saying they're potentially worth a late 1st, or even a 2nd, makes absolutely no sense. We got Eric Staal for a 3rd and 5th. Nate Thompson for a 5th. Rental 4Cs don’t go for a 2nd+.

Unpopular opinion, but I have no issue with Cooper bringing his guys. It’s a short tournament, and they know the drill. Besides, they did a good job containing the Tkachuk brothers who they were matched-up against. Cooper kept the 🤡 away from Crosby and McDavid.

Mathias Brunet sur Evans: "C'est un centre d'une trentaine de points par saison. Il aura 29 ans, il ne s'améliorera pas vraiment" une trentaine de points, c'est très respectable pour un 3e centre défensif sans PP. Context is a non-existent concept for these guys. Total points is all that matters.

On BPM sport today, Mathias Brunet said that a 3C should produce 40 points per season. Well I guess the following players don't qualify: Adam Lowry, Lars Eller, Jordan Staal, Colton Sisson and plenty of others fine defensive 3Cs that see no PP.

There's an interesting connection between Jake Evans and the Devils: his father-in-law, Pat Flatley, played five seasons with Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald with the Islanders. Fitzgerald was scouting the Lightning game, and New Jersey has shown interest in Evans. Hockey really is a small world.
