Love this from Denmark

What do you think of Vladimir Putin’s suggestion that Ukraine is really just Russia? Call in and help us move the Overton window. With special guest Viktor Yanukovich!

lololol. My government is giving me health care and a high speed train from my city to Montreal sir. So terrifying! Liberate me

Pierre Poilievre is a dyed-in-the-wool MAGA supporter who admires Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. If you think he will defend Canada’s interests, you are delusional.

Canada’s supply management system for eggs (and dairy): food security is national security. The U.S. is paying the price for those cheap food supplies that many Canadians were coveting just a few years ago.

Weird how not a single one of the newspapers and magazines that have been breathlessly churning out "cancel culture" thinkpieces for the past four years have managed to use the word "censorship" at all to describe the most rapid and comprehensive campaign of mass-censorship in recent US history.

Schatz to reporters before his remarks on Musk's breaching the Treasury payment system: "Imagine yourself a foreign correspondent. How would you cover this if this were in South America or Central America or Sub-Saharan Africa? How would the coverage change?"

Ditch Amazon Kindle and Audible! The free Libby (library) app + your public library card gets you free access to tones of e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and more 🇨🇦💪🏼

Albert Einstein said, “In the midst of every crisis, lies great opportunity.” As Canadians, we can wean ourselves off American energy, food, goods and services. We can electrify everything with heat pumps, trains, electric cars and e-bikes. We can put our wood to work.

For anyone considering cancelling their American owned streaming services: The Ottawa Public Library (and probably all libraries) has 1000s of DVDs available to rent for free!

The Internet Archive has to date downloaded 500 terabytes of US government websites, which it crawls at the end of every presidential term. The whole archive is fully searchable. This effort's housed by a donation-funded nonprofit, not a branch of the US government. blog.archive.org/2024/05/08/e...

The cry goes up has a Red-tailed hawk swoops in for the kill. But together the Canada Geese stood their ground and drove the hawk off. #birds #birding #canada #nature #photography

“Canada would be wise to reconsider what qualifies as election interference, because the danger might be closer to home than we think. Without Twitter, Canadians gets to choose their prime minister. Maybe it’s time, once and for all, to log off.”

You may not “believe” in climate change, but the insurance industry does (they’ve been planning around it for decades using all that scientific data for modelling and predictions).

A primer on the two biggest issue facing Canadians

The biggest political failures in our current Canadian context are the federal NDP. Canadians are worried about housing, food security, health care, etc - bread and butter NDP issues. And yet, they've offered people no hope, no salve, no way out. Just anger and rock throwing. Please, do better!

Arguing is fun but it’s weird how it’s been inscribed this sort of nobility when you’re online where everyone is supposed to be your opponent instead of someone you’re hanging out with and not being a dickhead to. Anyways it probably doesn’t have anything to do with why everyone has lost their minds

“Pierre Poilievre sought CPC leadership by attracting support from anti-vaxxers and the trucker convoy. The ‘F*ck Trudeau’ movement emerged largely over resistance to pandemic safety measures, ultimately intending to give rise to the far right in Canada.”

“Does Canada have a perfect system? Not remotely. It’s occasionally even shake-your-head terrible. But even at our worst, the premise and the promise we’re fashioned on is still better than the U.S. system.” www.montrealgazette.com/opinion/colu...

Just 6% of Canadians want Canada to join the United States. Any Canadian who’s defending Donald Trump right now is a traitor.

Happy New Year! Or it will be in a few hours. I have had so much cheese that I might fall asleep before midnight 🫠

The message of A Christmas Carol seems particularly relevant this year. Here’s hoping that 3 spirits hold a blanket party for the naughty list of oligarchs on Christmas Eve. 🎄
