If you are impacted by the current NIH funding freeze, here is a form to explain and directly send it to the Washington Post reporters👇

Let’s go www.yahoo.com/news/no-amaz...

On Saturday, the Office of Personnel Management sent an email to federal employees instructing them to respond with five things they accomplished last week. Today, we got an EXCLUSIVE and totally legit copy of Trump’s response. 👀

“Research funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) generated $2.46 in economic activity for every $1 of funding in 2023, a total of $92.9 billion”, by 2024 UMR report. That’s $3 billions more than in 2022. The NIH freeze is NOT aimed at saving $, it’s a blunt attack on the US economy.

Any talk you hear from the current administration about making the US more competitive in science and technology is utter bullshit. What they are doing is sabotaging our country for years if not decades to come.

Yessssss!!! See you there!

In a small trial, nearly half of pancreatic cancer patients who received an mRNA vaccine had no signs of relapse after three years. Dr. Vinod Balachandran from @mskcancercenter.bsky.social joins us to discuss the results and what they could mean for cancer treatment.

“We’re fucked.” Good write-up in Nature on how the current administration has used the Federal Register as a workaround to block NIH spending without seeming to violate the injunction against the spending freeze. If it’s not rectified by September, billions of $$ for science research will be lost.

I made a pledge to myself to post at least once a week about why we need SCIENCE, RESEARCH, and Universities in the U.S. (more than ever) and what we risk by not supporting them. I won’t post on Blue (preaching to the choir! 😆), but I’ll post on X and FB. Please RT when you see it! 🔬🧠👩‍🔬👨‍🔬🤝

I lost my job at the National Science Foundation yesterday, along with 167 of my colleagues, including some dear friends. This was the best job I've ever had, and I thought it would be my last. The PI community has been sympathetic and supportive, without exception. I will miss working for you.

Now is the time to Stand Up for Science! 🔬🩺🧠 Links are below. March 7 is the date. 📣Organize, march, speak up and let your colleagues, friends, & neighbors know. @standupforscience.bsky.social 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇

I have had a TON of people asking how they can help...here is what would help us the most right now: SHARE SHARE SHARE SHARE SHARE! Tell us why you #standupforscience2025! Send flyers to your colleagues and labs! Change your bluesky banner! Tell your professional orgs and departments!

This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen. Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !” globalnews.ca/news/9793403...

It’s been a tough few weeks. My 10yo daughter was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive cancer called interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS). I’m reaching out to identify clinicians/patients who have encountered pediatric IDCS or other (non-LCH) dendritic or histiocytic sarcomas cases.

PLEASE SHARE 💜 With uncertainty in federal research funding & hiring, we are offering *FREE* resume/CV reviews for early-career scientists in the US who have rescinded job offers or who risk layoffs. If you feel this support would benefit you, submit resume/CV here: forms.gle/CCbbu2X5GJwH...

The news cycle right now - even just for science & higher ed - is overwhelming. We have to do it, but fortunately, we don’t have to do it alone. My team is focused on tracking what’s happening to research funding, jobs & salaries, shared datasets, university responses & safety of our communities

This is an excellent opportunity for an evacuation to a fantastic institute 🧠🔬👩‍🔬

The EMBL Epigenetics and Neurobiology Unit in Rome is hiring a Group Leader to work on Molecular Mechanisms of Environmental Adaptation. This is a fantastic opportunity, please repost! embl.wd103.myworkdayjobs.com/EMBL/job/Rom...

Is this how the US intends to compete with global innovation leaders like China, by stifling innovation/research in the US!? Chinese institutes are eager to attract top US scientists with groundbreaking ideas This won't just undermine our science, it will swipe the US off the global innovation stage

If you're a scientist that serves on an NSF panel that got cancelled today, I'd love to talk to you about it for an NPR story. DM, email or reach out on signal.

Hi BlueSky, here I come! Hello...?
