It feels like the tipping point is either very very close, or potentially already here

The sign game in VT is 🔥

Vermont skiers don’t mess around. My favorite is the “New England is for everyone except Nazis”

Use Signal. Donate to Signal. The ability to send messages that can only be read by the sender and recipients is crucial to free expression:

Shocked this isn't the Disney 100 edition Ioniq 5, but cool to see other Eqiunox EVs out there

Rivian’s R1S electric SUV just got way cheaper to lease

Rivian is quickly realizing the promises software defined vehicles bring, far beyond simple subscriptions. These are massive possibilities to essentially get a different trim level or range through software unlocks.

🚗 ❄️ 🪫 I drove 500 miles in the Chevy Equinox EV in snowy Vermont. We just did the same trip with the Rivian R1S, so I wanted to test the Equinox EV. I feared slow charging and poor winter range might leave us stranded or delay us, but it performed incredibly well! 🎥 Watch now!

My train commuter lot is becoming an EV hotbed. I got my first views of the Volvo EX90 today and the Porsche Macan EV last week. Both are definitely head turners!

This is not something I would have ever thought I needed, but Rivian has a great way of marketing this to people like me. I can see the family hanging out under this thing on adventures. The price though...

"This is why the software-defined vehicle is such a game-changer," writes EIC @patrickgeorge.bsky.social. "Though it may face a tough road in 2025, it's why I believe Rivian is going to pull this off." Our full review of the updated R1T: insideevs.com/reviews/7520...

I'm glad to see Kia not only continue to heavily invest in EVs, but also go smaller, longer-range, and more affordable with some great styling. It's the EV2 though that really looks like the small hot EV of my dreams (after the Rivian R3X)

Lucid is a way more interesting company than it's size would dictate. They seem to always been in a state of transition and business dynamics always seem to distract from the amazing product side. They have some great tech and a ton of solid funding, but I just don't know about their future.

Per Cox Automotive, January set a record for #EV market share in the U.S. Electric vehicles accounted for 9.1% of total new-vehicle sales, a new high.

Long way to go still, but this will start impacting things more and more as his wealth and power are challenged. Keep it up!

I'm happy to see more and more data that people are rejecting Tesla and exploring other options in the EV industry. I have been debating test driving the new Model Y to post on the channel and share my thoughts and I know I'll be harsh, but I don't want to publicize it and give Tesla coverage.

the extra-amazing thing is that now two Chinese car makers are outselling Teslas in the EV category in the EU and it looks like their momentum is only building it's not just that people are rejecting Tesla -- they're also opting for a product that is cheaper and in some respects better

Goodnight from Utah

I know they’ve been transparent about Gen1 not getting it but I still think this is lame considering the tech stack is only a few years old.

Rivian plans to temporarily halt production of both its R1 and RCV/EDV vehicles in the second half of 2025 to prepare for the launch of R2 production.

This is shaping up to be perfect timing with our Equinox EV lease ending in 2026. I’m a first hour (maybe first five min) reservation holder and have the loyalty priority so fingers crossed we’ll be early in deliveries. The R2 is going to be amazing and do incredible numbers.

After that, a hands-off, eyes-off highway driving system is coming to Rivians next year, CEO R.J. Scaringe said on Thursday.

Unfortunately this is looking like a trend many CPOs are following and Rivian is following along. It used to be a great benefit for Rivian owners but no longer. I will still probably pay the premium for the good experience and also to not fund Tesla when possible, but the good days are over.

Rivian's big "Mirage" announcement today is the availability of an exclusive limited California Dune edition with exclusive interior and wheel color options, included gear, and the tri-motor configuration. I like the idea of more limited edition custom trims and options. rivian.com/dune?lid=scq...

The people running the federal government hate New York City and want to punish people who live here for (by and large) having views and living lives that they dislike. Any gussied-up justification is working backwards from that desired result

I’m becoming increasingly terrified about the two flights I have planned over the next month

At one point years ago I had high hopes for Nikola. There’s definitely a business case for EV trucks but the company always acted so shady and lacked leadership and vision

*barely sublimating my personal rage* Remember: every time you're stuck in traffic on a bridge or in a tunnel, it's Donald Trump's fault

I like the metaphor of killing a tree you’ve been watering for two years just as it’s beginning to bloom. I know that I’ve benefited from several NEVI funded chargers in NY and more were planned and in progress in great locations.

It’s true that there is doubt, but this then goes on to say that it currently isn’t paused and they’re continuing to move forward.

Smart move by Rivian to encourage upfitting businesses to outfit the RCV electric van. I can't wait to see some of the options that come out of this.

I’ve never seen so many Rivians at a Rivian Adventure charger before, but all the networks seem to be slammed today. Thankfully no wait and we can eat at the Ambrosia Diner in Queensbury, NY. Also first time seeing a non-Rivian charging The new higher prices ($.53/kWh) aren’t reducing demand

We made it all the way up to Stowe thanks to the RAN, better than expected efficiency with whistling ski racks, and this random free Tritium charger. Great drive again, full video coming sometime soon (after a sick weekend of shredding Stowe’s Front Four and more)

I am convinced that Rivian has the absolute best charging network in the US at this point. I know it’s small but the reliability, pricing, and ease of use is so good. They’re even getting better about locations. This one in Queensbury, NY opened late 2024 and is incredible. Way better than Tesla

This might seem like a little thing, but this tech will be increasingly important as EVs and assisted driving tech continue to grow. I really wish we had this in our gen 1 for our VT trips
