The "meritocracy" trap reinforces the notion that those at the top deserve it, and those at the bottom deserve nothing. What a cruel and baseless idea that shows a lack of empathy and a disconnect with the reality of how much work it is to just exist sometimes.

“We’re not going anywhere. What’s more: we’re expanding.” Nearly a dozen of Minnesota’s foremost experts on gender-affirming care collaborated on this beautiful op-ed in today’s Strib. No paywall.

It seems to me that when you pair increased awareness of minority groups with inadequate representation, the inevitable conclusion is a conservative majority desire to return to the "normalcy" of a time when they didn't ever have to think about others. It's self-perpetuating suppression of diversity

"Don't you wanna know my name? Hold fast to the kid inside who knows she did nothing wrong. Heart rests with your hand in mine, you know we did nothing wrong" Trans lives are human lives. open.spotify.com/track/0kimdC...

Continuing to talk about trans people in an abstraction/ as an "ideology" enables millions of people to fail in recognizing our humanity and multiplicity. Just like with anything, we are not a monolith. Wouldn't you want to be present at the table where your rights/ validity are being discussed?

I'm the most complete version of me I've ever been. Existing is nice, think I'd like to keep doing that for a lil' while. Transgender rights are human rights.

Seems to me that the existence of trans people constitutes an antithesis to the authoritarian urge to define and control the tenants of social identity, social acceptance, and social interaction. Turns out humanity is infinitely variable in its expression of itself. They write their own downfall.

Just released memorandum from OPM: Federal facilities will now have a bathroom ban for transgender people. It will go into effect on the 31st. It also has a slew of effects and puts into place the 1st anti-trans EO policies for every agency. This will have a ton of impacts very quickly.

Last week I updated my mega-post "What's wrong with the Cass Review?" with new links to analysis and evidence. I have no illusions about the current political landscape. It will likely take years to undo Cass' act of sabotage. But I am in this fight for the long haul and hope you are too.

Flickering apparitions, a part of the whole, Where the sea meets the sky, The corner of eyes- I am of a peripheral persuasion And not quite in sight. Kept out of line, each passion in time Suspended yet mending The cracks in my line. Trans people are inalienable to the human experience.

I think they certainly would like to erase us (whether that is fleeing/hiding/etc). But the truth of the matter is that they can't because we are an eternal facet of the human experience. Trans rights are human rights, and maybe one day we can just be as we are, as we have always been.
