It feels like no one should have to say this, and yet we are in a situation where it needs to be said, very loudly and clearly, before it’s too late to do anything about it: The United States is not a startup. If you run it like one, it will break. 🔗 www.wired.com/story/the-us...

"Musk will reinvent the US government in the way that the hyperloop reinvented trains, that the Boring company reinvented subways, that Juicero reinvented squeezing. Which is to say he will reinvent nothing at all..." @brbarrett.bsky.social @wired.com

"Trump may threaten to cut aid, but South Africa’s land policies are not up for foreign negotiation. The country’s hard-won sovereignty cannot be dictated by a US president whose track record on racial justice is abysmal." — #AJOpinion by Lindani Zungu ⤵️

The dismantling of USAID by Elon Musk’s DOGE and a State Department funding freeze have severely disrupted efforts to help people escape forced labor camps run by criminal scammers.

NEW: NOAA employees were ordered to give an engineer from Elon Musk's DOGE task force access to all of the agency's Google sites by the end of business Wednesday. Nothing in the engineer's background suggests any special expertise relevant to his new role.

Our latest scoop: An internal email obtained by WIRED shows that NOAA workers received orders to pause all work with 'foreign nationals.'
