Fascinating read, this. www.bmj.com/content/387/...

@drchristabella.bsky.social hello Lang!

2024? Pretty chill, tbh. Happy Hogmanay all. See you next year.

Can confirm, this hasn’t turned on my creativity. It has made some toast though.

On the early train down to Edinburgh, and the sunrise over the North Sea is hypnotically, devastatingly lovely.

Politics is the art of deciding who to disappoint.

Going to an anaesthetics meeting today and no idea what to wear. Is it still The North Face, or is everyone in Patagonia these days?

Fantastic day at #NHSGrampian Community Appointment Day, developing new ways of delivering our Chronic Pain service.

@kieranholland.bsky.social Kia ora! I lived in Christchurch a few years back. Many happy memories.

Maybe he wasn’t walking round his garden. Maybe he was trying to escape.

Lunchtime winter-walks may be the best thing about working from home.

I hope that the farmers, rather than lionising Jeremy Clarkson, realise that his attempt to dodge the taxman is exactly the reason that some of them may need to now pay a small amount of inheritance tax.

I tend not to block people on social media (unless people are actively abusive). Even people I disagree with, I like to know what they’re saying. I realise this is my privilege, as a middle-class white dude. Everyone should curate their experience into whatever they want it to be.

@tomkilner.bsky.social good to see you on here.

Now seems a good time to collate a list of reputable, trustworthy public health voices. UK Public Health Starter Pack ⤵️ (Work in progress - will add suggestions!) go.bsky.app/Tuf8yqX

Buckminsterfullerene, ciabatta and fluconazole. Quite the episode of Ready Steady Cook.

@drjje.bsky.social hi Jake, lovely to see you on here!

Bluesky does feel like the X-killer. Mastodon was too established a community, and impenetrable for most. Threads was shiny but nothing of substance ever happened. Reddit was like MedTwitter for nihilists. This feels, for lack of a better description, like OG Twitter.

Are we doing intros? Here’s a thing I wrote a wee while back. It’s about Aberdeen, the first city I ever loved. www.holyrood.com/inside-polit...

An Orcadian blue sky for #BlueSky. I love this photo, taken on the beach on Hoy. Little did we know that: a) my “sore foot” was a first presentation of gout, and a long hike on a hot day left me virtually immobile. b) our peppercorn-sized baby daughter had joined us for the walk.

@thefourthcraw.bsky.social it’s tremendous to have you on here Mike. Hope you’re well!

Twitter is dead. Long live BlueSky. iandunt.substack.com/p/twitter-is...

An introduction, then. David, 39. Public Health registrar in NE Scotland, and recovering paediatrician. MedTwitter early-adopter and early-abandoner. Extremely average at chess, mountaineering and taking photos.
