Ok one more for the “delft” series - my beloved Abe (she/her), the winter flounder. #SundayFishSketch #FishyFebruary #SciArt 🦑

My Make-Up Journey has been: 1. Homer Simpson Make-up Shotgun set to "Whore" (poorly executed) 2. Attempting Several Variations of "A Natural Look" with varying degrees of success 3. Homer Simpson Make-up Shotgun set to "Whore" (well executed)

Typothorax moving along

Been working on this maastrichtian globe for the last few months on my spare time, and it's still WIP (hopefully finished some time this spring). But here's a little peak at the insular India!

I’m not suggesting we can make a Planet Earth-style doc for it yet, but I feel like maybe the end Permian could use a similar treatment as the end Cretaceous got from PhP. Don’t go on about how its denizens are doomed to die. Just portray it as the amazing world it was.

pictures I painted at 3 am 3/4 „Procession“

#FossilFriday An illustration of Mary Anning’s ichthyosaur skeleton appeared in William Buckland’s book Geology and Mineralogy #histsci #sciart #WomenInSTEM 🧪⚒️ paleonerdish.wordpress.com/2018/05/21/m...

happy #fossilfriday! this is trucidocynodon, a non-mammalian cynodont from late triassic brazil. due to perhaps possessing digitigrade forelimbs, it is among the earliest known synapsids to show adaptations for cursoriality (art by gabriel ugueto)

happy #fossilfriday! bonus: this is rhizodus, a basal tetrapodomorph from the early carboniferous of russia and the uk. it lived in freshwater environments such as lakes, rivers, and swamps, where it occupied the niche of apex predator (art by @mariolanzas.bsky.social)

Being a palaeoartist and an active palaeontologist, is a blessing and a curse. You can create your own artworks to accompany your research, but, you don't get paid for it, it's additional workload you have to quickly squeeze into your schedule, your artistic mishaps will be scrutinised more.

"Stable isotope data was collected from different #fossil mammalian species, including rodents, anteaters, rhinoceroses, camels, and capybaras from Central #Argentina during different parts of the Neogene Period..." - Sophia Licata, Time Scavengers timescavengers.org/2025/02/20/s...

I made a new composite image of a bunch of the models that I've made. And it tiles! #SciArt 🐟🐸🐢

Young maritime pine trees retain a memory of early temperature conditions through epigenetic changes; marks persist for up to 2 years post-germination. Discovery shows how trees could be conditioned to adapt to climate change. https://buff.ly/40W6ynQ... via @inrae-france.bsky.social

Anurognathus was scientifically the cutest pterosaur (working on ideas for enamel camping mugs)

'The Song of the Dinosaurs': J.A. Shepherd's frontispiece to E.D. Cuming's Wonders in Monsterland (1901). A nice dry @depthsofwikipedia.bsky.social style quote from Shepherd's Wiki page: '"There are only two things I love in my life–my mother and my raven." This was before his marriage in 1897'.

They’ve only waited 120Ma. A new glimpse into theropod diversity from Early Cretaceous Australia: megaraptorids, an unenlagiine, and for the first time, carcharodontosaurians. Read it here: tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.... Artwork by Jonathan Metzger. 1/10

Absolutely killer book cover (Příručka skutečného paleontologa by Lukas Labil)

I am still working on this, but month-specific art (and pesky schoolwork) means it may be a little while before it’s done and colored. Yes those are Tigers. #holocene #wildlife #sturgeon

I call this piece "Head in the Stars" A Giraffatitan rears up on its hind legs to enjoy the view. I swear that the vague bisexual colors in about half of my work is unintentional. I just really like those colors...however, I love that subconsciously my brain wants to make everything queer.

various vetulicolians are up on my Youtube channel! www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBzl... #Sciart #paleoart #vetulicolia #cambrianperiod #Blender3D

Let's talk about fairies & enchanted rocks in Texas. Specifically, let's talk about the fairy shrimp ("Lone Star Sea Monkeys"!) that live in vernal pools at the top of Enchanted Rock near Fredericksburg, TX. We'll start with why Enchanted Rock is enchanted. (🧑‍🎨: Stan Fellows, www.stanfellows.com)

my Bluesky followers get a second sketch before the weekly post :> #sketch #sciart #paleoart

Happy #WorldWhaleDay!! Here are the cetaceans I've drawn in my weekly sketche series so far... considering they are all toothed whales, I can suppose Lady Luck hates mysticeti... what is your favorite cetacean? Is it one of these? #sciart #wildlifeart #sketch #orca #dolphin #whale

A family of the scimitar-toothed cat Homotherium latidens, including two cubs. Concept sketch done as resquested by patron Ben Corey, who as a patron in the Deinonychus and upper tiers can request a taxon for me to sketch every 3 months #paleoart #sciart #art #homotherium

happy #fossilfriday! bonus: this is teraterpeton, an allokotosaurian from late triassic canada. it had an extremely long snout and an unusually large narial fenestra that was approximately 1.5 times the size of its eye sockets (art by @literallymiguel.bsky.social)

Happy Valentine’s Day- Show your friends that your feelings will NEVER go extinct with some cambrian critters.

Terrified terror

I made the drawing at the end of last year to celebrate the regular New Year, but since it's Chinese New Year, I post it here today. 🙂 It depicts Titanoboa cerrejonensis, a giant boid snake from the Paleocene of Colombia. Done in Photoshop. #YearOfTheSnake

Yes! Another AMAZING paleoart by Júlia d'Oliveira just dropped! It showcases the Pleistocene bush dog (Speothos pacivorus) from Brazil, in association with our new paper published in JVP (link below 👇). tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10… Follow the 🧵

Please help, all I wanted to do was draw ungulates on a cool pirate ship and now I have to draw ship rigging ;~; Going to have to include a forward in this book apologizing to ship lovers. Like, I promise I looked up reference pictures it's just there are so many ropes ToT #gemsbok #llama #wip

Echnoids, such as modern sea urchins have an extensive fossil record. This photo I took features some from the Triassic of Peru, but we have others in our collection from an unnamed species from Bear Gulch!

Post your green art 🌲🌿🍃🦠🪲🐠🐸

7 years ago, I lost my damn mind and made my son a #Dinobed. He was about 6 and was ready for a "big boy" bed. This was my original sketch. Plywood dinos on each side so he won't roll out and he gets to sleep between the fight. #SciArt

And I already have the last great Iberian titanosaur, Lohuecotitan and Qunkasaura are now joined by Abditosaurus, a large sauropod, one of the last dinos described in Spain, but which could have been the first, since its remains were found in the 50s! #Paleoart

A bit late on the 4th week! #sciart #digitalart #wildlife #sketch #paleoart #penguin
