I have been removed from the Play Store and somehow all my current IDs are out of date. So now I have to go fork up for a new passport!

in 2009 I knocked up an Android wallpaper in 24h. No knowledge. Code was atrocious. Sold it for 50p but because Droid was brand spanking new it made more money than games I worked on. 9 years later I got a bunch of refund requests from people who bought it back in 2009 because it stopped working.

Dear developers, This is a polite reminder to not store graphics settings in Steam Cloud. With Love, Steam Decks across the world.

Things I need to get back to: 1) Produce and sell hardware synth units, release firmware for free on github including VST/CLAP plugins 2) Release a small game (Maybe the Beeb game in SturdyMachine?) I've released more products than I can count over 10 years but none *for me*. It's been too long!

Oh, the spam bots have appeared. That's disappointing.

@mikebithell.bsky.social FYI Tron: Identity is the first game in a long time that has me already wanting to replay. Job well done to you and your team!

"Dad, when are we getting Windows 7?" Well.... That wasn't a question I thought I'd hear my 5 year old ask. "Why do you want Windows 7?" "It has a cool logo!" It's funny because he has no idea what Windows actually is, he just saw the logo and liked it.

I *forgot* my Amiga when I moved out of my first flat. Straight up left it behind. I don't think I can ever be forgiven for this.

Made some progress on Apache Canyon over the break, it now has sound effects with different sounds for bullets/missiles/powerups and proper explosions :) I've also added some variables in to allow difficulty tweaking for level progression. I've tested "very hard" values and its suitably difficult.

Lots of yellow paint posts today. I put some out for my kids but instead of tidying up, my kitchen became yellow. I don't know if they're hungry or just didn't know what yellow paint is for.

Just testing out this classic game design trick (yellow paint) on my Steam page:

"Would you agree the previous advert was relevant to you? Absolutely not, no, maube, yes, absolutely yes." .. Where's "I didn't watch the sodding thing and have no idea because I don't want to see adverts." Is that not a useful metric or will that just show how in effective you are being?

It's Sunday. Why not relax with one of our card games or match-3 games? They are on sale on itch. greyaliengames.itch.io

"I'm old, I remember DVDs!" ... What did I just hear!?

My daughter started a prank war with our Elf. Result? Our elf shaved part of my head in my sleep.

Turned my old PSR550 on yesterday to a loud BANG! The PSU exploded so hard it took the outer casing with it. Guess some old caps gave out Whew. Didn't need to buy a new power supply though as I have a box of adapters that I've carried with me since moving out of my parents house 20 years ago.

Me: "I'll fire up my synth, I need to code in some more midi parameters." Synth: *Powers on* Also synth: *Extremely loud fart noise followed by powering off* Two things: 1) Dangit. 2) Don't implement your volume in software to reduce components, your ears will thank you.

My 4th game actually came out in 2006 but in 2011 we got it ported to iPad (and iPhone, Android and even Xbox!) by @damiensturdy.bsky.social Also we added 50 more levels, got it localised and called it Holiday Bonus GOLD.

Looking for an Android app that lets me play guitar or ukulele. Not "Pay monthly" subscription only for tabs. Give me a virtual uke to strum. This has to exist right? It's just the overcrowded market pushing the junk to the top right? Or do I have a new app to make?
