Spent yesterday in a flat spin considering whether draining the bank account to pay off this house I'd like to move on from is the only way to survive what's coming.

Destruction is, and always has been, easier than creation. Breaking something is simple; building it requires talent.

I'm really really worried that the model they're using is North Korea.

Of all the current horrors, it is congressional Dems sitting on their hands that is radicalizing me.

You know what would increase the health of Americans? Universal healthcare. Universal daycare. Shared parental leave. Widespread subsidized housing. National light rail. A social safety net for aging, disabled, and chronically ill Americans. Universal basic income. Increased access to food stores.

I wish having energy to function was a choice I could make.

Gonna keep saying it: Trump and Musk are screwing Ag interests big and small, every which way. And I strongly suspect that the fruits of these maneuvers will be what finally wakes the regular public to the scale of the crisis they've created www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/u...

Living with this much rage is a lot of work.

These are major progressive wins! The Seattle’s social housing initiative won despite: ➡️ massive spending in opposition by Amazon and the Chamber ➡️ a (legally questionable) delay by the council to prevent it from being on the high-turnout Nov 2024 ballot ➡️ an opposing campaign led by Mayor Harrell

Reboot WAR GAMES but the technology teaches us about the complex interrelated systems that everything collapses without.

Imagine fucking up Catholicism so badly that the Pope calls you out personally. Feels like I'm back in the 1400's. Incredible.

I never feared success which is a real shame because most of the things I have feared I have had to face and get through.

I am absolutely in denial. I'm unreasonably certain we're in a Twilight Zone episode that will end in twenty minutes and then we will go back to normal.

As others have said, the greatest transfer of wealth in US history will not be from the Boomers to their children but from them to the US healthcare system. The US is designed to make people insolvent and to keep them poor once they're there.

Plenty of people in history have had bad governments. It must’ve seemed like the end of the world to them too. We find ourselves where we find ourselves and just need to put our shoulders into it.

In 1973, a brilliant critic named Stuart Hall created a diagram that changed the way we study media, and could help you survive this moment. Just dropped: the second letter in my series about how to analyze the media in a time of crisis. It's all about codes. buttondown.com/thehypothesi...

I had some hill meetings today and this is one of the things I heard: it would help defend Medicaid if the AMA engaged So, if you're connected to the AMA, please reach out and let them know that now is the time to defend Medicaid.

@indivisible.org is doing THE WORK. Their explainers & actions are 🔥🔥. I’m calling @repvalhoyle.bsky.social to implore: oppose the budget, play hardball, BE AN OPPOSITION PARTY.

This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen. Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !” globalnews.ca/news/9793403...
