Coming around to the view that a certain kind of narcissist simply needs Musk to be a genius rather than a fraud, because they want to believe there’s a hereditary Brahmin class of accomplished, beautiful minds—and that they’re a part of that class.

Side note: Ian Froese is the CBC reporter who -- after that guy drove his truck through the gates at the PM's residence intending to confront/shoot him a years ago -- wrote an article that was essentially a puff piece advertisement for the man's butcher shop.

While I'm dropping hot takes about popular media (see yesterday when I called Discworld mid: I don't think Slay the Spire is all that great? It's all very same-y and the difficulty level makes boring without having an interesting story or characters to make up for it.

Hate to say it but I think the Discworld books are kind of mid. I'm on #5 and I'll keep reading the series but they're just kind of...fine? It probably doesn't help that I've been listening to the audiobooks of HHGttG* lately and the contrast is pretty stark in terms of how funny they are.
