Discussion question: do you ever run into a situation where someone is getting on your nerves and then wonder if you do the same thing to others... like they're sort of a mirror?

Take it from me: everything bagel seasoning is not good on everything. I suggest not putting it in scrambled eggs.

Words matter: I told my husband I felt like I was about to catch a cold so he got out a bunch of vitamins for me. Last night he asked me if I needed anything for my 'sickness'. Lol. Anyway, I feel fine so I guess the vitamins helped.

This guy apparently has white coat syndrome. He's been limping, so we took him to the vet. When he got there, he was fine. Now that he's home, he's limping again. And he's ornery. He's sitting on my lap, and I'm afraid to make sudden movements, or he'll get me.

If your partner says "I'm not making dinner tonight," that's your que to offer to go out.

We have a new local film collective. I went to a meet and greet and am signed up to be a PA for a short in March. Very exciting.

If anyone in #ScriptSky is still on X, we're talking about endings tonight at #scriptchat. 5-6pm PT (8-9pm ET). The chat is still there every Sunday night. #WritingCommunity #Scriptchat is also here the first Friday of every month, so ... if not tonight on X, see you here on March 7th!

I'm very thankful for my hubby. He made this for me for Valentine's day.

I'm sorry, but please put a cap on the mi t mobile commercials. I don't need to see them on every commercial break.

What happened to caraway seeds? I've been to a couple of grocery stores, and they don't have it.

NLN interviewed me about being a TV writer and you’ll be happy to know that I managed to talk about sandwiches. www.nolongernetwork.com/post/get-to-...

This was a good analysis of the plane crash. I especially liked how he pointed out the ATCs highly trained reaction after witnessing a tragedy. I could not have maintained my composure to get the next stressful steps done. youtu.be/hfgllf1L9_4?...

People need to learn the difference between correlation and causation.

Just finished Iron Flame and now have a lot of feelings. I might need a breather before starting the next one.

I just took the dog out and heard what I think was a pack of coyotes. It was so creepy. We only stayed out for a quick minute.

The three most fundamental elements of narrative drama. 1. ) Someone wants something. 2.) They're having trouble getting it. 3.) Something will happen if they fail. If you can't identify all three in your screenwriting, rework it until you do. #scriptsky

It was so cool to hear someone give a speech that I wrote tonight. It was for a work event. When I wrote it, I didn't know who the speaker would be so the actual speaker was encouraged to personalize it. She did a great job.

This week on Scriptnotes, I’m joined by Jesse Eisenberg, the talented actor/writer/director desperate to write headlines for The Onion. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s...

The difference between cats and dogs: Because of the ice and wind, we set out buckets of water in case we lost power. The cats found the buckets and have been drinking out of them. The dog is clueless. He still goes to his little bowl.

If you live in a cold climate, I would love some advice on how to stay motivated when it's gray and 20 degrees (f) out and all I want to do is curl up under a blanket with a hot cup of tea and read. Thank you in advance.

I just ordered a small walking treadmill with a desk! Looking forward to setting it up near a window where I can get some sun while exercising and writing.

Happy National Screenwriters Day to all my fellow scribes out there who are fighting the good fight! To celebrate, drop some deets in the comments about your latest WIP and let's all bask in the flood of creativity! #scriptsky #filmsky

I had breakfast today with my old roommate (college & about 10 or so years after). She gave me a sage candle for a Christmas gift. It's supposed to clean the air. I've burned it all afternoon. Hoping this year is better than last. Wishing everyone best of luck.

One of the things I learned by having a 2nd job in Dec. is that I have more time than I think. I was able to rearrange cleaning and other things to accommodate it. In 2025, I'm going to do the same for writing. My goal is simply to write more. Doesn't have to be good. Just sit down & do the work.

I don't know why... but my poinsettias are still looking good. Normally, they're dying by Christmas. And yes, I haven't put up my decorations yet. I worked a 2nd job in Dec. and didn't get to fully enjoy it. Not quite ready to put it up. Maybe next weekend.

If a producer (or anyone) asks you to perform free revisions on your screenplay as a part of a shopping agreement or anything similar... Get it in writing that you own those rewrites unconditionally once the deal expires. In writing. A handshake deal is not enough. #scriptsky

Story structure is not prescriptive. STRUCTURE is simply choosing what the audience knows and when they know it in order to maximize narrative momentum and emotional resonance. That's it. It is not a goal itself. Your screenplay's structure is a MEANS to the goal. #scriptsky

Happy New Year

I'm supposed to be reading my book club book, but I don't want to. Watching an old show instead.

So happy to have finished making these memory bears for Christmas. The peach and red ones were for a coworker. The black and white one is from my dad's robe. It's for my mother.

Hope everyone is doing well. I've taken Dec off. Been working an extra PT temp job at the Santa photo set. Today was my last day, and I will miss it. The people I met were wonderful to work with. But now I have to get in gear to make writing progress in Jan. Time for goal setting. Have you made any?

I know it's cliche to say the wind sounds like a freight train, but darned if it doesn't sound like a freight train. Out house is shaking. Hopefully, no trees fall. It's been raining. Always a bad combo.

My husband made me this cute little box. He put a piece of chocolate inside.

I was listening to an audio book, and they pronounced the word macabre as spelled ending in bra. I always thought the re was silent. Macab. Is this how everyone says it, or is it a regional thing?

Sorry to be negative, but is anyone else weirded out by the kraft mac and cheese commercial with the thumbs?
