Going over a training video and I am just struck by this one slide. Tempted to photocopy it and leave it in the meeting room anonymously ahead of the next department head meeting.

My library has awesome adult summer reading prizes from local businesses. Most of the libraries in my area do, too! I bet your local library does as well, dear reader. Go find out.

There are only a baker's dozen of books currently still out, after the deadline for most students. (Primary doesn't count, those classes keep their books in the classroom.) Might be the best non-pandemic low for books I need to chase down! It really helps that I offer snacks to classes w/ all in.

Dear @mollyostertag.bsky.social , I had a fifth grader tell me today that he really likes the Dungeon Club books and I need to buy more. I told him that I thought the third one might be out this summer ... um, I hope there is one in the works?

Being able to search my Facebook profile is great because I know exactly what date I last had my DTAP booster. (I don't have a PCP and the pharmacy where I got it closed.)

Doing summer reading outreach at the local high school today. Looking forward to it. I hope to get them psyched about the cool programs we're offering this summer. If nothing else, we'll have a Marvel Entertainment illustrator doing a demonstration and giving out free autographed copies of his work!

This might be my most energized library board meeting ever. Really hope it goes okay. One of the Friends of the Library will be giving a presentation on the impact of the city seizing their storage space for the police, and we've invited some city council members.

I’m really enjoying that literary works similar to Sinners is getting some recognition. I may start the Sinners Summer Book Club.

Going to go see Sinners again for @fondpodcast.com . Great movie, though ... guys ... it's been out for a month and you're only getting around to reviewing it now? (Which is why I have to see it again. I can remember what I read no problem, but darned if I can recall what I watch.)

If you would like to add your name to the over 250 librarians and library workers, who have already signed this joint statement condemning the dismissal of Dr. Carla Hayden, visit docs.google.com/document/d/e... 1/3

I would honestly rather deal with book banners than with a city gov't that seizes library real estate and tries to smear me for standing up against the grab.

Elon Musk’s AI data centers polluting Black communities so that his Nazi followers can ask his chatbot questions is a perfect distillation of why AI is fascist technology

Every single author should be worried; this will lead to more AI mining your works.

www.reuters.com/world/us/tru... Because she was putting books in the library that are inappropriate to children? It's the Library of CONGRESS. Used primarily by legislators. Politicians can act like toddlers, but come on! I'm mad all over again.

@altlofc.altgov.info , I am sorry. Carla deserved better.

BREAKING: President Trump just fired our nation's Librarian. My statement here:

The most qualified Librarian of Congress in decades has been fired.

Yesterday I got to meet @adamrex.bsky.social and he is awesome. He took the time to have a conversation with every child that got a book signed. Thank you, Adam!

A parent complaint about a nonbinary snail led a Virginia elementary school principal to cancel a visit by author Erica S. Perl. A former trial attorney, Perl offers a lesson in smart booking contracts and standing up to book and author challenges.

@simplyrain.bsky.social yay, you're here!

"Sinners" gave me nightmares, but I don't regret seeing it. Hollywood can just stop trying for the next 8 months; that's the movie of the year. Mad props to the cultural consultants - and to the production team for having cultural consultants.

@brainrotblog.bsky.social and I had a great time at the THREE independent bookstores in our city, for #independentbookstoreday .

Wow, Bay-Con is already next week! Apologies to @doctordhansen.bsky.social , we'll miss your panel. @brainrotblog.bsky.social works that morning. Hope to see you in the afternoon!

Coop did a very thorough job explaining the current challenges we’re facing in the field, and I’m glad I could provide some insight! There other amazing librarians quoted in this piece, and I encourage everyone to take a look! @bespokelib.bsky.social, @st741.bsky.social.
