Suburban heat.

Went deep into the woods

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to tell real news from satire. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Does anyone else remember this pop-up book from the 80s? Working on the Unquiet Guests anthology has me looking at it again - it's deeply weird, isn't it? (I'll drop a link below for those who haven't seen the anthology yet!)

Wouldn't it be great if Vessel from Sleep Token and Vessel from nineties indie rockers David Devant & His Spirit Wife turned out to be the same person.

Hello Evening Crowd - today let’s have a trip to the woods but not quite as you know them

In the last 20 or so minutes I’ve seen LAPD officers shove women to the ground without provocation, rip a sign out of a man’s hand and then swing a baton into his leg and raise a less-lethal launcher to aim directly at a protester (which I’m 99% is a major policy violation.)

Hello. I live in Los Angeles. The president is lying.

"Even for those of us who have not read Mythago Wood there should be plenty for us to enjoy... a highly inventive and well told set of tales." #fantasy

This shop is haunted.

Only a couple of days left on Dead Ink's Eden Book Society Kickstarter, and things are getting serious. Less than £5k to go before they add another two books! If you haven't backed it already, consider doing it now. Full details below - get backing! www.kickstarter.com/projects/dea...

For the evening crowd... I can finally talk about the Top Secret project I've been working on with Dead Ink! Ten haunted house stories by modern masters of the Uncanny, compiled by yours truly - all wrapped up in a glorious deluxe hardback edition. Coming this Halloween! Full details below.

So this is pretty wild. Editor Dan Coxon just announced his new anthology UNQUIET GUESTS, featuring Chuck Palahniuk, Grady Hendrix, Kirsty Logan, Will Maclean, Irenosen Okojie, Alison Moore, Matthew Holness, Claire Fuller, Ally Wilkes and me! Available 10/30. Preorder here: bit.ly/45J0Jy1

Cover reveal!! I can finally talk about the Top Secret project I've been working on with @deadinkbooks.bsky.social! Ten haunted house stories by modern masters of the #Uncanny, compiled and introduced by yours truly - all wrapped up in a glorious deluxe hardback edition. Full details below.

Might have some big news dropping later today. Watch this space. (Don't worry, it's not about Trump.)

Late to the party as always, but this was good.

Debuted my new Excelsior Land Raider today. Lasted about ten minutes. #warhammer40k

Our shortlist for this year's Gold Dagger! Six fantastic books.

Really looking forward to doing Edge-Lit in Derby again this year! Always a great day, filled with panels, workshops and launches. Highly recommend it if you haven't been!

I've been announced! Hope to see a bunch of you at Edge-Lit in Derby this September - there's more info to come, but we should have copies of the brand-new Writing the Magic on hand, as well as a panel event and more...

For no particular reason I've done a little over 260,000 steps so far this month, averaging just over 10k/day. I feel this should have been training for something - does anyone know of a good charity walk coming up?

If you're anywhere near York, there are currently still a few tickets left for our FREE panel tomorrow on agents, pitching, and the ins and outs of the publishing industry. Grab a ticket - and bring your questions! www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/how-to-get...

Great book this. Deserved a much longer shelf life. Maybe buy a copy?

All bangers, an excellent collection. So excited to work with Dan!

Website announcement on the return of my folk #horror collection Come Sing for the Harrowing - coming from @clashbooks.bsky.social next year! www.dancoxon.com/2025/05/back...

Dead Ink have launched their Kickstarter for the new Eden Book Society, and it looks absolutely fantastic. Contributors are Grady Hendrix, John Darnielle, Nina Allan, Rowan Hisayo Buchanan, Alison Rumfitt & Chịkọdịlị Emelụmadụ. Beautiful series design, too. www.kickstarter.com/projects/dea...

It's a good news day. My second short story collection, Come Sing for the Harrowing, was published by Weird Little Worlds last year, then promptly went out of print after two months. Now it's rising from the grave - the utterly wonderful CLASH Books will publish in spring 2026. Praise the dark gods!

Well look at that - Writing the Murder is shortlisted for the HRF Keating Award at this year's Crimefest! We're up against Lynda La Plante (among others), so you know, wish us luck... www.thebookseller.com/news/final-c...

One of the greatest problems of the modern age is the way that social media has made people confuse personal opinion with objective truth. That's the way I see it, anyway.

A couple of people have asked where my story 'In Flickering Light' was first published (this is the one that will be in Ellen Datlow's Best Horror of the Year). It was in my collection Come Sing for the Harrowing, published by Weird Little Worlds last year and now out of print. But watch this space.
