How to be a writer, no. 1256899 1. Write 2. Think about writing 3. Worry about writing 4. Write some more 5. Be the envy of social media with your fictional playboy lifestyle 6. Tea

The Caribbean “Ole Mas’” vibes are impeccable 👌🏽

When history repeats: “In the Klan’s vision, immigrants, labor radicals, and sexual ‘revolutionaries’ together presented an indivisible challenge to white Protestant authority” (Moran, 2002, p. 11).

Drag me "Let me insist that “the academic” and “the intellectual” are not interchangeable terms: they are not the same thing: they may even be at the opposite ends of the scale. The academic life can actually prevent intellectuals [from] doing serious intellectual work."

Please consider giving to Adriana Smith’s family who are bearing our unspeakable inhumane reality post-Roe. gofund.me/6ea3be7c

I wish there were three of me for the number of books I wish to read and learn from this summer. People who read lots of books a year, how do you prioritize which ones you work through?

“First declare very loudly that you will defect [do the thing the other player wouldn’t prefer] and the other side will be forced to cooperate, then cooperate, and then declare very loudly that the other side was the one that cooperated”

The folks who treat this (gestures broadly) as business as usual are perhaps the most frightening.

Crazy how long this conversation has been going on

The blowback in reporting we have seen like this can be normalizing the wrong thing - better, I think, “although some kids are cheating, many are navigating how not to.” It may call attention to what many students see as a problem of time and why that is.

This looks cool. I am not an affiliate. I can imagine a written assignment with time to draft in class using printed copies of course material, and a final submission with tracked changes from the original. Part of our class focus could be an interest in these editing/revision processes.

And then I’m thinking, freeing up all that wasted time learning to do what? Be on TikTok? I have thoughts…

Many of the "fights" on social media are just people who refuse to be wrong. We're all mostly wrong. Move on.
