An attack on nature is taking place across the pond as Trump (AKA Musk) empties the National Park/Forestry of staff. These great landscapes are what make the national identity. Without them, the U.S is nothing. This has potential to be repeated in the U.K. in 4 years. Stay wise to it.

I finally found a Flapper Skate egg case (I think)! It’s huge, the size of my hand, and as you’d expect the resulting Ray is massive - the largest in European waters at 2.5m nose to tail and 2m wingspan. It’s taken me years to ever see one, testament to this species being critically endangered

Pwy wnaeth yr sêr uwchben? ✨ You can listen back on BBC sounds to the chat @aledhughes.bsky.social and I had this week ahead of Welsh Dark Skies Week and celebrating Eryri’s 10th anniversary of being an International Dark Sky Reserve 🤩 www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

💚 Happy Valentine’s Day from the Celtic Rainforests of Meirionnydd 💚 💚 Heartwood 💚

Google - grow the fuck up. Apt chapter I just read in a book. It explains the power of cartography (making of maps) and why the naming of places is important. In case you are one of those thinking renaming a body of water is not a big deal. Taken from ‘Serpent, Siren, Maelstrom and Myth’.

Pillaging Medicaid to pay for armored Teslas.

Was no one else getting handmaids tale from these dancers in Kendrick’s performance? The LAYERS

Dathlu yr Gwarchodfa Awyr Dywyll Eryri yn 10 per flywyddyn yma efo Aled ar Radio Cymru bore ma 🥳 Celebrating Eryri Dark Sky Reserve being 10 years old this year with Aled on Radio Cymru this morning 🥳

FYI - I tried to warn you nearly 2 years ago about Musk, the environmental damage, the USAID Starlink debacle, the fabrications and lies. It’s all there in my book. My one regret? Not going in harder.

Blustery and cloudy here in Cymru but the Aurora is up there, dancing her dance. Check out the beautiful views from the warmth of your own home with the incredible scenes from the Shetland live webcams www.shetlandwebcams.com/burrafirth-u...

🥳 It's Day 5 of #NationalAstronomyWeek and most of the UK is cloud free, so you all have no excuse! Go outside and #DoLookUp. 🔭🧪 This is the view from my home in Portobello Edinburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, looking South West! 🤩 ℹ️ www.astronomyweek.org.uk

Unpopular opinion but February is one of my favourite months. You get both sunrise and sunset at a reasonable hour. The night skies are at their best with iconic constellations. The wildlife starts displaying, look at this! if I could watch one thing over and over it would be murmurations

A Ryan under Orion. Amazing what phone cameras can pick up! Looks like we have a good wedge of high pressure over the U.K. for the next 3 days. A great opportunity for everyone to take advantage of the darker nights that are now slowly ebbing away as we move towards the spring equinox ✨

Like clockwork. Happy St. Brigid’s Day!

Sure would be a shame if we were to have a Carrington scale event right about now…

Watching an empire self implode in real time is really quite something. What a time to be alive.

if a major politician held an emergency rally about the current ongoing coup by the richest man in the world, I think people would go to it. Shit is well and truly fucked. I can think of a couple of people who should do that right now.

Still reeling from the ‘bats and newts’ comments from the chancellor this week. Why this government thinks pitting growth against nature is: 1) anything other than insanity Or 2) going to make them popular Staggered, to be honest. If they think we won’t stand up for nature, they’re wrong.

If you have clear skies tonight, take the chance to look up and see a tiny slice of crescent moon 🌙 Look to it’s 10 o clock and you’ll find Venus shining brightly. Between the two, a fainter Saturn. Elsewhere look for Jupiter and Mars too, Orion is fully above the horizon now as Sirius dazzles
