My first podcast appearance! Thanks to @danielfilan.com for asking lots of great questions about our interpretability paper on learned look-ahead in a chess network. I'll be presenting a poster at NeurIPS tomorrow 4:30pm (East, #2802), stop by if you want to chat! axrp.net/episode/2024...

Playing with logo designs for the AI Governance and Policy team. What I like about this one is how original it is. Completely unlike any existing logo.

The bridge was not working that well on superstimulus' end so I turned it off. I think friendica (the software that runs superstimulus) will soon get a new release that fixes it, so maybe I'll turn it on again later. For now, I prefer the 2016-era-FB vibes of superstimulus, so will return there.

does bluesky have polls yet?

I am posting from superstimulus and maybe it will go to bluesky also

Anyone know why suddenly many people seem to have moved here?

the vibes of archimedes banya are really nice - saunas, hot tubs, cold plunges - a bunch of tattooed russians with felt hats - art of greeks / romans on the wall - you can walk out to a view of cargo ships docking in piers, shrouded by mist

Seems fine tbh

Here's your Sunday reading! A fraction of great things I read this year. Death contours, the twin baby boom, good conversations, music and languages, blood pressure drugs, Tasmanian devil cancers, cheating viruses, and more. https://www.scientificdiscovery.dev/p/16-a-fraction-of-great-things-you

speaking of social media failing, does anyone know what the reddit situation is? is there an obvious thing everyone's moving to?

current status: I don't really understand singular learning theory, also I can't stop thinking about it

text is the universal interface...sure bro. don't mind the whales sharing alpha through songs and clicks underneath the sea.

The one thing I’d like to return from the 90s is the transparent plastic device aesthetic. Feels like we’re due for a repeat.

This is a dope LW post that I made a couple cool contributions to. https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/7RFC74otGcZifXpec/the-possible-shared-craft-of-deliberate-lexicogenesis
