An amazing Father's Day dinner with my beautiful family at Ci Siamo, which we love, ending a wonderful day, which included beautiful cards and gifts from the girls and even Isabel coming to yoga with me. (Marianna took the photo.)

playbill.com/article/tony... So sad to read of the passing of Bill Finn. I was his assistant for about six weeks (he says 5 minutes) my second year at Juilliard. I typed A New Brain.

Linda Lavin - one of the all time greats. I remember, before Collected Stories got to New York, Jerry Patch told me about her performance at South Coast Rep and called her 'our Judi Dench.'

I only met Gavin Creel once, on a plane to LA, and he couldn't have been kinder or warmer or more personable. I got to tell him how much I have loved so many of his performances on stage that I was lucky enough to have seen. I am so moved by the outpouring of affection for him.

I got to write about the late Chris Durang, one of my heroes, for The Dramatist. www.dramatistsguild.com/thedramatist...

I feel very lucky that I got to see Maggie Smith twice on stage. The first time, when I was 10, in The Way of the World. I remember not being able to follow the play at all, but whenever she appeared - and I didn't know who she was then - I was in hysterics and understood every word.

Chris Durang was a hero of mine before I ever met him. Discovering his plays in college, I used to call people on the phone and read them passages of Sister Mary Ignatious Explains It All for You and Beyond Therapy- I think he's the only playwright I've ever done that with. ...
