Fundraiser last night at Wall Street United Church for work to expand the chancel and make the platform accessible. I participated but was definitely lacking in talent in a lineup of such amazing musicians.

“By labeling these long-established protections as ‘unnecessary and unduly burdensome,'" the (US) Department of Energy “is prioritizing private convenience over the civil rights of disabled people” in its rulemaking. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

We love Burlington. Great city. Still not going there.

Our country, which is a neighbour and a (possibly former) ally and trade partner of yours, keeps finding ways to work with him only to have him break every agreement that he makes, while he threatens to annex us and make us Americans.

Rabbi Julia Watts Belser: "Religious communities have often treated disabled people as symbols of suffering or exemplars of tragedy. But I’m not a symbol. I’m a self." broadview.org/julia-watts-...

The Goodyear Blimp went over today, en route from Watertown NY to Kingston then following the St. Lawrence River to Montreal. There is much local excitement.

With staff colleagues at worship for the Indigenous Day of Prayer.

Congratulations to the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. We were cheering for Edmonton, but it was not to be. Florida has built a team that wins cups.

As this piece says, the US is on the verge of a war that was not under consideration just days ago, solely because Trump likes "winning." talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/thoug...

CNN keeps calling the unidentified men abducting the New York City Comptroller "officers," but there is no proof that they are actually federal agents. They have no uniforms or badges and do not show identification or warrants.

The strike at Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) has now entered its eighth week and the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community across Ontario is facing a serious crisis. Critical services are being denied and silence from CHS’s Board of Directors is making things worse.

Your daily eugenicist moment (and there is a lot to choose from, with eugenics being normalized these days).

This article refers to two indexes of political violence/peacefulness. On the Global Peace Index, Canada ranks 11th and the US 132nd; on the ACLED Conflict Index, Canada is 103rd ("low/inactive") and the US 50th ("turbulent"). Why would we want them to annex us? newrepublic.com/article/1968...

Finally getting around to looking at Grand Prix du Canada race results. I have never been to the actual race, but it certainly dominates downtown Montreal all weekend.

As the article says, it's not an antitrust violation to be wary of having your product associated with Nazis, conspiracy theorists, cranks and whackadoodles.

It's not mentioned in the article, but Ohio's largest trading partner is Canada, a constant target of Trump tariffs and annexation threats.

Beautiful Blessing Gordon Shadrach 2017

Participating in the Eastern Ontario Outaouais Regional Council's worship service for the 100th anniversary of The United Church of Canada. There are 1400 people worshiping in person in Ottawa and 365 online.

When I was in the Canadian infantry, the only music we marched to was from the pipes and drums or a brass band. I see no reason to change this.

Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee; holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity!* Trinity Sunday Blessings! Wishing you boundless joy, curiosity, and strength in the glorious Holy Mystery. [*from Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, Voices United 315]

Watched "Sex and Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll," with Andy Serkis playing Ian Dury, the most punk rock disabled person ever. His exchange with the Spastic Society representative about the International Year of Disabled Persons and his song Spasticus Autisticus is a masterwork.

More bad news for disabled people... a vehicle which can't figure out stop signs and human figures is going to run over disabled pedestrians and mobility aid users.

I'm pleased that the mail brought a certificate from Canadian Blood Services, thanking me for 75 blood donations. That was as of last year; I'm now at 78.

There is a patio in Ottawa with Deaf servers and ordering in sign language. This made my day.

We're wrapping up the inaugural meeting of the new Accessibility Team at the church I attend. A diverse group of disabled people!

I joined the picket line in solidarity with members of CUPE Local 2073. They provide vital services to deaf, deafblind & hard of hearing Ontarians, & they want to return to work. I call on Canadian Hearing Services to get back to the bargaining table. These essential workers deserve fair wages.

Many Canadians know of The Group Of Seven, but have you heard of the Indigenous Group of Seven? Formally known as the Professional Native Indian Artists Incorporation, it formed in 1973 with seven Indigenous artists to promote Indigenous art. These are the artists 👇🖼️ 🧵1/9

It's interesting that abled people bring up "he tripped on the steps" as evidence of cognitive decline. Again, I'm highlighting, for the umpteenth time that the United States fought two empires while being led by a President who used a wheelchair.

The Club World Cup begins this week in the US. ICE and Customs and Border Protection will "provide security" and non-US citizens are reminded that they may be asked to provide their identification at any time.

Troops from more than 30 countries, including Canada, fought and died alongside Americans in ISAF, only to be belittled at every possible opportunity by Trump and his minions like Vance and Hegseth.

"At a time where we are seeing a slowdown in accessibility adoption in the games space, we’re showing that there are interesting accessible games being made, games with unique and interesting features” www.theverge.com/games/679542...

The Governor General of Canada has sent The United Church of Canada a congratulatory message on the denomination's 100th anniversary, and I can't find it anywhere...

I am reading in the airline instructions to disabled passengers that "you may make a special declaration of interest in relation to your mobility aid under Article 22(2) of the Montreal Convention," which just reeks of international intrigue.

A message from our Anglican siblings on the 100th anniversary of The United Church of Canada. www.anglican.ca/news/congrat...

We are watching the 100th anniversary of The United Church of Canada programming on Vision TV. We know composer Bruce Harding, who wrote the Sanctus that begins worship in the Vancouver segment.

Craig Baird tells the story of Church Union and the first century of The United Church of Canada.

I was there! A glorious Pentecost and 100th anniversary of Church Union. www.recorder.ca/news/united-...

It's the 100th anniversary of Church Union! On June 10, 1925, representatives of Congregationalist, Methodist, Presbyterian, and local Union churches gathered in Toronto's Mutual Street Arena and became The United Church of Canada.

Nice to hear Brian Hayward on the radio, doing commentary on the Stanley Cup final. He's no relation to me, but we watched him play in Montreal and my spouse still has his Canadiens sweater Hayward 1.

In a moving ecumenical gesture, the bells of First Presbyterian Church, Brockville, rang out today to celebrate the 100th anniversary of The United Church of Canada. The Presbyterian Church in Canada has its own 150th anniversary this year.

Your reminder that Elon Musk, whether her is in or out with the US administration, is a eugenicist and ableist who played a key role in fostering mockery and hatred of disabled people online.
