During worship tomorrow morning we will be praying for Pope Francis, for voters, candidates, and election officials in the Ontario election, and for the two children being baptized and having promises made for them.

We're watching Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte says that she met 10 year old Mozart. I was skeptical and looked it up - yes, indeed, she became Queen in 1761 and Mozart was 10 in 1766 when he was on a prodigy tour of European capitals.

45,400 Canadians died to liberate Europe from Nazi-saluting Nazis and now the Nazi saluters are next door, closer to annexing Canada than the original Nazis were.

The worst people.

Who else can recall a party so obsessed with their leader "deserving" a Nobel Peace Prize? Canada had a Prime Minister with one (although he received it as Secretary of State for External Affairs), and it is rarely mentioned.

Democratic governor of Connecticut talking about Canada as the 51st state. Annexation speech is only in its fourth month and it's spread to people who we thought would support a sovereign Canada.

"There should be no doubt that Trump's contempt for allies and admiration for strongmen is real and will endure." www.ft.com/content/1511...

J.D. Vance says, "well, Truman fired MacArthur" as if a dispute over civil-military relations and using nuclear weapons against China is remotely comparable to a purge of the US senior military leadership.

Over on X, Elon Musk is insulting astronauts because their knowledge of the International Space Station - having, you know, been there - differs from his earthbound opinion.

The pipe organ of Dominion-Chalmers United Church in Ottawa is 60 years old! Free concert on Sunday March 2, 4 PM. The building is now owned by Carleton University, but is still used for Sunday worship. carleton.ca/cdcc/organco...

My wife said at the advance poll, "I bet our voter information cards will come in today's mail." We got home after voting and guess what?

We have been to the advance poll for the provincial election and cast our ballots. We usually vote at the arena beside our house, but it is booked for a bridal show so we went to Christian Reformed Church. We see that our denomination is not alone in its choice of institutional brown carpets.

Connor McDavid wins it for Canada!!!!!!!!

I picked Canada's Nathan MacKinnon to score, so more points rolling in from the Tim Hortons Hockey Challenge.

The White House is referring to the "soon-to-be 51st state, Canada," which seems like a very quick annexation, but it took the Third Reich 11 months from the beginning of the Sudetenland crisis to the invasion of Czechoslovakia. Based on this timing, we will be an American territory in November.

The owner of X is posting that Community Notes needs to be "fixed," which likely means a ban on corrections to his posting Russian disinformation about Ukraine as he toadies to Putin and Trump.

Ontario wants to get disabled support recipients working. And then: "Since last year, at least six organizations have ended disability-focused employment assistance programs, or announced that they plan to in the coming months." www.thetrillium.ca/news/the-tri...

Prime Video should have ads for the Bond-Citadel crossover series going up tomorrow.

The local TV morning show has two Turkish-Canadian guys making German street food, and the menu for the day in this house is looking paltry by comparison.

Speaking of wartime elections, I'm recalling that my great uncle was elected to the House of Commons in the 1940 Canadian general election, with a raging snowstorm in the Maritime Provinces on the day of the vote. Men shoveled paths to the polls.

Oh, we're on the "Ukraine has cancelled elections so it's a dictatorship" talking point today. Someone look up whether or not the United Kingdom had its mandated general elections in 1916 and 1940.

Five major airlines are suing to overturn a rule from then-Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg that actually holds airlines accountable for damaging disabled people's wheelchairs. New from me at @motherjones.com. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

I am going to begin working on my alternate history novel where, in another timeline, Trump runs for US President in 1940 and defeats FDR. How does it turn out? Here's a hint: I will be writing it in German.

There is nothing weirder on X than this obsession with proving that both Brigitte Macron and Michelle Obama are men. You could write a PhD thesis on what is wrapped up in this absolutely asinine pursuit.

Always love finding Canadian para hockey content. www.nhl.com/news/james-d...

Candidate in provincial election attends local church breakfast, takes a photo and posts it, and folks are losing it that our denomination has endorsed him. It's election time, candidates go where the voters are, he wasn't giving a speech.

On the bright side today, I haven't come across anyone managing to blame the Toronto Pearson crash on disabled people.
