I know everyone is *smacks forehead* about the Mavs getting the No. 1 pick but I am on vacation and left the beach to watch the NBA draft lottery and write this story about the Rockets’ pick. Please click. www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

Hakeem Olajuwon will represent the Rockets at the draft lottery in Chicago tonight

Story (with video) from yesterday on Rafael Stone and Ime Udoka defending Jalen Green, who becomes trade eligible in July: www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

Rockets GM Rafael Stone on unrestricted FA Steven Adams, who likely played himself into a richer contract whether he returns or not: “It’s a two-way street. He has to want to be here. Every indication we have is that he does.” www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke... by @jonmalexander.bsky.social

Steph Curry out for the remainder of Game 1 with a hamstring strain. Big yikes for Golden State.

'One playoff series doesn't define a player,' Rockets GM Rafael Stone said about Jalen Green www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

From @jonmalexander.bsky.social: Houston Rockets GM Rafael Stone 'optimistic' about Fred VanVleet's return www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

To improve for next season, do the Houston Rockets make a major move or bet once more on the current roster's growth? “Continuity is great, but the goal ultimately is to build a championship team," Rafael Stone said Tuesday. On continuity vs. change: www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

Rafael Stone: “We are not a team built around any one player offensively, whether it’s Jalen, Alperen or Amen.”

Ime Udoka on Cam Whitmore: "We have had in-depth convos with Cam probably more than anybody. ... Ton of potential there but consistency is the main thing and he knows that."

Ime Udoka, grinning, on what he felt the Rockets were missing during the playoffs: “I’d say 90% free throw shooters and 50% 3-point shooters, that’s what we’re missing.”

Rafael Stone declined to comment on specific contractual negotiations but said on Fred VanVleet: “He's been the person and player that we hoped we were getting and we're very optimistic he’ll be with us for the foreseeable future."

Rockets GM Rafael Stone said that he still values roster continuity as a method of improvement. That won't prevent the Rockets from making changes, but "The bar for change is very high," Stone said.

Hola

Rafael Stone and Ime Udoka will take questions from reporters at 1 p.m. today. I'm sure Fred VanVleet's future, star chasing, rookie extensions will be among the topics. More below:

Houston sports news never stops. Per @jonmalexander.bsky.social, the Houston Texans hope to build new team headquarters that could include an entertainment district -- and might be outside of Harris County www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/texan...

The Rockets' first-round playoff exit kicked off an intriguing NBA offseason for Houston. Let's get into it. Here are the five most burning questions for the Rockets this summer: www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

After a resurgent season, was the Houston Rockets' first-round playoff loss to the Warriors a disappointment, a triumph, or something in between? "Don't be satisfied yet," Ime Udoka told his team. The Rockets hope this ending is just the beginning: www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

The Houston Rockets' resurgent season comes to an end in a 103-89 Game 7 loss to the Golden State Warriors at Toyota Center: www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

END 3Q: Rockets 62, Warriors 70. Houston whittled a 15-point deficit down to 3, but then missed its next four shots while Golden State made three of five to close the quarter. Rockets are dominating the paint and the glass but missed shots are a killer. www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

Some scrappy minutes from Tari Eason here.

Amen Thompson accounts for 71.4% of Houston’s points in the third quarter (6 points, 2 assists, 4 points created from assists). www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

HALFTIME: Rockets 39, Warriors 51. Houston shot 33.3% in the second quarter (7-of-21) while Golden State shot 52% (11-of-21) boosted by 14 points from Hield. The Rockets are up 24-12 in paint points but are being outscored by the Warriors 33-6 behind the arc. www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

The Rockets are down 10, their largest deficit of the game, and have made one field goal in the last six minutes. Steven Adams already stretching at the scorer’s table.

The Warriors are turning the tables on the Rockets. Golden State is defending in a matchup zone and it's working; Houston's last four possessions included three missed shots and a turnover. The Rockets are also shooting 36.4% (8-of-22) in the paint so far in the game.

END 1Q: Rocket 19, Warriors 23. Before Buddy Hield’s buzzer-beating 3 to end the quarter, the Warriors had missed five of their last six shots. Amen Thompson leads Houston with 6 pts. Alperen Sengun with 4 pts, 6 reb. Draymond and Hield with 8 pts each for Golden State.

After his stellar Game 6, Steven Adams is the Rockets' first sub off the bench tonight, replacing Jalen Green as Houston goes to its double-big lineup with seven minutes remaining in the first quarter. Adams enters to enthusiastic applause.

Buckle up. www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

Rockets starters: Fred VanVleet, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengun Warriors go back to starting lineup from Games 4 & 5: Steph Curry, Buddy Hield, Brandin Podziemski, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green

Warriors guard Gary Payton II (illness) has been ruled out for Game 7 vs. the Rockets. More updates here: www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

Game 7 on deck. Shirts and rally towels on every seat. City edition court installed. Toyota Center is ready.

“It’s a weird zone. Like a bizarre one, but it works.” “Half the time we don't even know what the hell we’re doing out there.” The Rockets’ zone defense shut down the Warriors and keyed a Game 6 win. It might be Houston’s Game 7 knockout punch: www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

Before Game 7, Alperen Şengün said he’s been running on adrenaline all series. “I can't sleep well, but you know, I don't feel tired. So the (excitement) I have, it's helped me a lot. Shows how much I want it and how much I want to play the game.” www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

Game 7 live updates, including injury reports, how to watch and recent Rockets-Warriors news www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

Rockets-Warriors Game 7: No changes to the injury reports for either team. Jock Landale and Jae’Sean Tate remain out for Houston. Golden State has everyone available.

Houston’s coaches call Fred VanVleet “The General” for his PG position but also because he knows how to motivate himself and those around him. “He has the best pulse on our team. He knows exactly what our team needs to hear." On the Rockets' playoff riser: www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

Jabari Smith Jr. starting to catch fire here in the third quarter with a pair of 3s, each of which put the Rockets up by seven points www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rocke...

HALFTIME: Rockets 53, Warriors 48. Houston had a 10-point lead halved by a Curry flurry. Steph has a game-high 16 points on 4-of-10 shooting, but the Warriors are shooting 39%. The Rockets are still missing a ton of close-range shots, but outscoring GSW 24-12 in the paint.

Amen Thompson banged his head on the floor after that foul by Gary Payton. Stayed down for a minute and had to be helped up by Ime Udoka, but seems OK now. Officials rule it a common foul.

END 1Q: Rockets 25, Warriors 21. Houston’s last few offensive possessions, except for a Jalen leakout dunk, were rough. The Warriors are aggressively trapping Green when he has the ball. He hasn’t turned it over, but Rockets aren’t countering well. Şengün and VanVleet 8 pts each.

Houston's bigs have played excellent help defense on the perimeter this series. Sengun was fantastic the last few games, and Adams just helped Amen Thompson trap Steph Curry and force a turnover.

It was ruled a flagrant 1. Jalen Green knocked down both free throws and the Rockets lead 7-3.

Three minutes into the game, we have our first review for a possible flagrant foul after Draymond pushed Jalen Green down.

How’s everyone feeling?
