Man, I can't wait for Sufjan Stevens to reissue Illinois with a new song about the Chicago pope

ChatGPT might be destroying education, but on the plus side it's losing hundreds of billions of dollars with no realistic profit model in sight AND it's hastening climate change.

The moment you begin to fathom the sheer scale of most Western countries' defense budgets, it becomes crystal clear (1) what a drop in the ocean all the devastating cuts to education, research and public services are, and as a result (2) the fact that these cuts are ideological, not necessary.

In 2021 I visited this Naples restaurant; the ragu' was so transcendental it reduced us to blubbering wrecks. It's just found itself in a firestorm for standing up to Zionists annoyed it displayed an anti-genocide message, so if you're in the area, give them all your money. tinyurl.com/4zhc4fwv

Enforcing the gender binary🤝Committing imperialist violence

There is no end to the violence of the rogue settler-colonial state, or to its disregard for humanitarian principles or international law: now it's right on my doorstep, and the Maltese government should do the right thing and offer aid. timesofmalta.com/article/gaza...

What a weird, distasteful article. First half: we asked women why they don't use ChatGPT, and they highlighted many valid issues like lack of accuracy and personal connection, etc. Second half: it must be because women lack confidence with technology! www.bbc.com/news/busines...

📖My book is out! My book Mytholudics: Games and Myth is now available. In it, I propose a way of understanding and analysing games as and through myth. @degruyterbrill.bsky.social doi.org/10.1515/9783...

It's a sunny day in Kraków, perfect to sit with some lovely pu'er tea and @gua-le-ni.com's new dystopian detective novel.

#QueenBoat is out. It is a #visualnovel inspired by real events that happened in Cairo, Egypt, where 52 #gay men were arrested and tortured for no reason other than a political agenda. #LGBTQIA #LGBTI #LGBT #homosexual #lgbtqcommunity #queergames #indiegame #indiedev #TrailerTuesday #IndieGameDev

Israel has killed more journalists in Gaza since October 2023 than in any other conflict in modern history — including World War II, the Vietnam War, the U.S. invasion of Iraq, and the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan combined. Source: Brown University’s Costs of War Project

Shall we keep pretending these Ivy League universities are the standard-setting institutions for global scholarship? Or do we accept the evidence that they are reactionary, conservative structures, all too eager to collaborate with a fascist administration? www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

One week left to grab the early bird registration rates for DiGRA 2025! digraconference2025.org/conference-r...

To check if any of my published work has been used to train Meta AI, I had to make an exception to my boycott of the publication that had published articles saying it was legally okay for Israel to kill children. Everything is compromised.

Graduation day, a yearly reminder that I love my job because not only do we have amazing students but also where else would I be able to hand out university degrees that have this written on them @indigitalgames.bsky.social

At the risk of sounding like a "Roman Empire guy" (oh God), it's been a month since I visited the buried chambers of Nero's Domus Aurea in Rome, and it's still marked in my mind. Layers of time, endurance and decay, the transcendence of beauty inseparable from the oppressive tyranny of wealth.

Ah yes, the three genders

Watched The Last Laugh (1924), one of the greatest of all silent films, with my Games and Narrative class. Some trepidation re what Gen Z game kids would make of a 101-year-old film, but they loved it & wanted to sit and talk about it for a full hour afterwards.
