I was set to launch my book at the Carter Library next month. This week, we were told all events now need approval from the National Archives. The next day, my event was forced to relocate. A book about the working homeless. A book about civil rights. Apparently these topics are now off limits.

“…the American media would be more clear-eyed about the rise and return of wanna-be dictator Donald Trump if it was happening overseas in a foreign country, where we’re used to foreign correspondents writing with more incisive authority.”

I should add is this is why the Federal Reserve *should* be saying something. There were folks inside the Fed warning about the subprime boom, but they were basically silenced. I suspect the same is happening now.

Really important point

From someone who has chronicled the subprime crisis & resulting financial crisis, financial markets are not at good at predicting fundamental vulnerabilities. Warnings are often ignored for the sake of “irrational exuberance” They are good at accelerating downward spirals & contagion however.

As HUD is being decimated, a critical, moving new book calls on us to reassess who we view as "homeless." It is a *much* larger problem than measured by our current measures. And it's not primarily a coastal one. A review by yours truly of "There is No Place for Us" by @brian-goldstone.bsky.social

Keep it going! #TeslaTakedown

The Dems are out their mobilizing with dynamic young folks like …checks notes …Heidi Heitkamp 🤯

Woke up wondering whether he had appointed Big Balls to the Joint Chiefs of Staff yet…

The new chairman of the joint chiefs of staff

Democrats should go to all these ruby red and vulnerable GOP districts where voters are upset at Trump and Musk and court them. Full court press.

. @chanzuckerberg.bsky.social folding to MAGA like a cheap suit. Despicable.

Thousands of people are visiting our site and pulling down our #TeslaTakedown flyers and info packets. Join an event or create your own at TeslaTakedown.com

Things hurting the US economy: -mass layoffs of federal workers -funding cuts to every federal dept -corporate layoffs -measles and tuberculosis outbreaks -high flu rates -$8/dozen eggs -new tariffs raising the cost of everything -Canada boycotts US travel and goods -concerns about airplane safety

Diane Yentel is not very active on here, and this is too important to not circulate here. Amazingly gangsterish (my new favorite adjective for these days) stuff.

Again, Gangster...and his Gangster Party www.hamiltonnolan.com/p/gangster-p...

If there is an issue that organizers should be using in Republican districts, it's this one. Red districts in general are more dependent on USPS than more urban, Dem ones.

It's nearly 5am and Republicans just rammed through their pro-billionaire, anti-middle class budget blueprint. In order to pass massive tax giveaways for billionaires, they're going to defund Medicaid, slash veterans benefits, & force kids to go hungry. Make sure everyone knows it.

What would have been tail risk events are moving into the realm of the probable. Will write more soon in a long-form piece, but it is essential that we have frank conversations. Decreases in childhood vaccination rates beyond a critical level puts ALL newborns and infants at risk. All of them.

"Is he a wannabe strongman? Sure. A fascist?...An autocrat, an authoritarian...Leave those terms in the textbooks...He is a gangster. He governs like a gangster. And if you think of him ...as a gangster—who sits atop not a political party, but a gang—his actions make perfect sense."

My wife is an infectious disease pediatrician. She is very worried about the possibility that HHS will shut down the nation's primary program for vaccinating kids. It funds on the order of half of all vaccinations. (And yes, I know it's congress that is *supposed* to decide on funding, but...) ☠️

REVISED UP WOW 3.5% level means highest since 1995!!!! This is going to catch a bunch of Fed attention.

Big national fascism in the news opens up all kinds of opportunities to do some local fascism.

You cannot recover from this with future investments The data uncollected are lost forever

Senate Republicans just *BLOCKED* Sen. Ossoff’s amendment to protect children’s and maternal health care through Medicaid.

What Comes Next? A 2-minute clip from Governor JB Pritzker, a warning... www.c-span.org/clip/state-l...

So if you criticize Elon Musk, Trump’s DOJ will send you this letter. Members of Congress must have the right to forcefully oppose the Trump Administration. I will not be silenced.

BBC America radio host: Let's talk to two random Trump voters about how Trump is doing. TWO Trump voters: Spew absolute garbage...DOGE is doing great, Putin is great, Trump is a mastermind BBC America host: Thank you

Okay so you know I like to remind everyone how the American immigration system has been cruel for a very long time. But loading people on flights to deport them to countries that they are not from, like Iranians to Panama, is not business as usual.

Pregnancy became far more dangerous in Texas after the state banned abortion in 2021, ProPublica found in a first-of-its-kind data analysis.

Another way to put this: Musk and his twerps have exposed us to pandemics, broken science, stolen all your data, endangered the U.S. payments system, threatened air traffic control, and cut off HIV medication to 20m people in order to save ::checks notes:: 2/10th of a percent of the federal budget.
