Calling Christianity a crutch for the weak gives people way too much credit. Christianity is actually a resurrection for the dead.

The answer to liberalism without the resurrection is not conservatism without the cross.

Never Tabasco. This time Tapatio. Always Cholula.

The Huff-Rogan moment reminds us: Something’s happening here. “What’s that sound?” We need to stop, look, listen, and lean in. And we need to start “apologizing” like Christians, again. www.dannyslavich.com/p/when-apolo...

Limping into 2025 www.dannyslavich.com/p/limping-in...

Some say that Christians are politically homeless on earth. But that isn’t quite true. We have a political home in a City (polis) yet to come, and this City assembles on earth in the local church.

People who walk with Jesus limp with a stagger rather than strut with a swagger.

If you’re limping into 2025, maybe it means you’ve been wrestling with God and he’s got you just where he wants you.

Sometimes I think I’m too much of a contrarian, but then I think, “No, I’m not.”

Into this blank space called “exile,” Matthew tells us to overwrite the name of Jesus. Because Jesus ends the exile. Emmanuel ransoms captive Israel who mourns in lonely exile. www.dannyslavich.com/p/in-lonely-...

Christmas is the death-wheeze of cynicism.

In light of God, we’re irrelevant and insignificant. Except that God makes us significant. God makes us matter, because he made matter. God instilled creation with value because he is the one who made it. www.dannyslavich.com/p/needles-on...

A very “American evangelical just home from Oxford” sermon this morning. Probably trying too hard, but at least I’m trying. 😆

Until next time, Oxford.

What do you give to the One who has everything? Yourself.

If God became a man, born, then dead, in blood—then you aren’t too broken or far away.

Legend.

When our son was six years old, we told him the true story of St. Nicholas—a pastor from a long time ago who helped people. His takeaway: “So, he died?” “Yes.” Soon after, he sent this note to Santa: “Dear Santa, you are ded.” Happy St. Nicholas Day!

Where you go is less important than where you stay. Growth takes roots. Roots take time.

A few years ago, I heard of a convert to Eastern Orthodoxy on his death bed. He said, “I’m so glad I’m dying in the arms of the church.” Not the arms of Jesus. But the church. Every tradition is tempted to make itself “the thing.” But only Jesus is the thing above all things.

Why do we celebrate Christmas on December 25? Here’s a helpful, short video from Charlie Styles of OCCA (The Oxford Center for Christian Apologetics) youtu.be/kxaIvw7HrwY?...

I hate the way folks refer to cool images or videos of things as “p*rn” (library p*rn, cabin p*rn, etc). It’s disgusting. P*rn is inherently illicit and secret. But we can enjoy good and beautiful things (libraries, mountain cabins, baseball pitches) without shame.

James Lindsay published part of The Communist Manifesto at The American Reformer as a hoax to show the true colors of the “Woke Right.” I’ve usually found James Lindsay distasteful, even if at times somewhat helpful. Here again is evidence of both things.

Bible sales are skyrocketing, so we need tons of accessible resources to train folks in hermeneutics. Bible readers must learn how to read the Bible.

Bragging that your political party has the moral high ground is like me bragging that our local dump, nicknamed "Mount Trashmore," is the highest elevation in South Florida.

“A Man on the Inside” on Netflix. One of the best shows we’ve seen in a long while.
