Yesterday I watched the original Godzilla (1954). It really exceeded my expectations. Thinking about how the actors all lived through the atomic bombings just 9 years prior, how the scenes of devastation were meant to capture that hellscape. With that in mind, some parts had me feeling choked up.

It makes me so uncomfortable to hear AI "character" TTS voices on Twitch. They're AI likenesses of real actors, trained on copyright work, and people pay money to play those voices on stream. How would you feel if thousands of people were paying to hear an AI trained on your voice say inane things?

So here's the plan, I'm going to start picking up old network switches for cheap whenever I see them in electronics recycling stores, etc. In ~10 years I will have amassed enough to build a grid of 144x144 ports. I will then wire them all up and send packets to make the activity LEDs play Bad Apple

I predicted they'd eliminate the right joycon's IR sensor on the Switch 2, in favor of some new feature. I guess we don't yet know the full feature set, but they did in fact retire the IR sensor. That note about some Switch games not being compatible with Switch 2 is likely just for IR sensor games.

Legal teams need to step up their document formatting game. Every doc or template I receive is rife with bad formatting. Repeated newlines for page break, repeated tabs/spaces instead of tab stops, underscores for form fields, not defining header/body styles, etc. We solved this stuff decades ago

It would be awesome to just totally ditch all dependency on cloud services and use my own servers to handle everything like mail, notes, calendar, whatever else. I know it's possible, but it's less "seamless" than Apple/Google services, and the real cost is the time that setup and maintenance takes.
