In Ps.25:1 today: 'To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.' These are days for soul care. These are days to be soul-full. The soul lifts itself into our attention for our good. The soul lifts our eyes to notice our life. Watch the sunset as meditation. Be. Soul is my work today.

In Ps.26:8: 'I love the beauty of your house, Lord; I love the place where your glory resides.' I love the simple beauty of old chapels. Chapels hold people through the worst of times. World wars. Great depressions. Losses. Sit with beauty as meditation. Beauty is my work today.

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Duckworth on if she's open to voting to confirm Mike Waltz: "I think everybody on that Signal chain needs to be fired ... he's failing up ... I'm not open to voting for him, no, because he's already demonstrated he's incapable of doing the most basic thing, which is handling classified information."

In Ps. 27:11 today: 'Teach me your way, O Lord, & lead me on a level path.' Jer. 6:16 calls us to seek the ancient paths where there is the good way. The road to Emmaus holds joy . Keep walking by the Spirit's whisper. Faith blesses our steps. A level path is my way today.

“Do not mock us.”

In Ps.28:7 today: 'The Lord is my strength & my shield; in him my heart trusts.' The spice plant in the kitchen leans toward the light. She gives and gives always from this quiet strength. The Rosemary spends hours greening. Given to newness. Strength is my prayer today.

This isn't hypothetical. The coming days are bringing higher prices and disrupted supply chains, this time not because of a pandemic or a war, but self-inflicted by our country's government under this president.

In Ps.29:11: 'May the Lord bless his people with peace.' Fear of the other will not heal us. Today is the start of Mental Health awareness month. Attend to self & other. Peace is strength. Project 2025 notwithstanding, we are led by the prince of peace. Peace is my work today.

Saint Dymphna, murdered for fleeing molestation by her father, pray for us. Saint Gerebran, murdered for protecting Saint Dymphna, pray for us. Saint Maria Goretti, murdered by a rapist, whose story was exploited to shame rape victims, pray for us. www.patheos.com/blogs/steelm...

My modest National Day of Prayer contribution: Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. ~ James, the brother of Jesus

Should this happen, the event would be countered by a massive turnout of citizens protesting his birth.

In Ps.30:5 today: 'Weeping may linger for the night but joy comes in the morning.' Dawn. Morning. First light. Time & again God frees us for new joy. We must not be overwhelmed by eroding due process. Scapegoating. God comes with new moral courage. Joy is my work today.

Raskin: Our chairman… How does one go from a libertarian railing about the deep state and the fbi and the doj coming down on the rights of the people to becoming a supine submissive authoritarian who votes against providing basic due process rights for the people against the government?

In Ps.31:24 today: 'Be strong, & let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord.' Dr King envisioned a beloved community. Equality. Access to good wages. Mutual benefit. Non-violence is a way of life for courageous people. Live belovedness. Courage is my work today.

Dr. King envisioned a Beloved Community in which all people share the wealth of the earth and can realize their dreams. My father's dream remains unfulfilled but it is still very much alive. His vision demands action. And that action begins in our work, every single day.

In Ps.32:10: 'steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord.' We are surrounded by the power & love we know as the risen Christ. Surrounded by courage. Understanding. Surrounded by the great cloud of witnesses cheering us. We are not alone. Surrounds is my work today.

Pritzker: Time to stop wondering if you can trust the nuclear codes to people who don’t know how to organize a group chat. It’s time to stop ignoring the hypocrisy in wearing a big gold cross while announcing the defunding of children’s cancer research…

In Ps.33:5 today: 'the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.' No matter what indignity or tyranny, we retain the image of God. We are full of the image of God. That freedom & dignity cannot be taken from us. In that way, we start each day full. Full is my work today.

Stop what you’re doing & listen to this!

ILLINOIS… Gov. Pritzker…

Given the literal definition of deportation is removing a foreigner or noncitizen from the country, we - journalists, media orgs - should probably all stop referring to the ‘deportation’ of a 2 year old US citizen. It’s NOT a deportation. I’m not sure what it is. A kidnapping?

In Ps.34:18 today: 'The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, & saves the crushed in spirit.' Due process is going away for citizens, too. The Lord's process stands with the broken hearted. God is as near as our breathing. Hope comes in every breath. Near is my word today.

ACLU — NEW ORLEANS: “ICE deported at least two families, including 2 mothers and their minor children – 3 of whom are U.S. citizen children aged 2, 4, and 7. One of the mothers is currently pregnant... 1 child with cancer deported without medication…” www.aclu.org/press-releas...

"You pray for the hungry. Then you feed them. This is how prayer works." —Pope Francis

happy lesbian visibility day repost if you love lesbians ignore if you hate lesbians

A genuine backlash to Trump’s ethno-nationalist authoritarianism may be starting to take shape on its own terms. Here are the poll’s key findings: 🔗

Don’t forget that a small handful of Republicans in the House and Senate could put a stop to all of this.

If deporting US citizen children with cancer isn’t your redline, it’s time to reassess your priorities.

In Ps.35:20 today: 'For they do not speak peace, but they conceive deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.' Our story in Christ is big enough to deliver wholeness. A story of deceits cannot better us. Speak the truth in love. Speak is my work today.

In Ps. 36:7: 'All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.' The whole creation is God's concern. God's all is all: care for persons with disabilities, persons of color, persons who identify as LGBT+, etc. I speak persons first to remind. Teach. All is our work today.

@vanhollen.senate.gov

There's no ICE in the Kingdom of God. No "detention centers." No prisons either.

In Ps.37:28: 'For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his faithful ones.' The DOJ civil rights division is being gutted. Persons with disabilities will not have the same protection. Fair housing, too. We must love justice. Wage compassion. Justice is my work today.

Walz: If you say you love freedom but you don't believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love is not freedom, it is privilege.

THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT IS THE LAW OF THE LAND AND A SUPERSTATUTE AND THE PRESIDENT CANNOT UNDO IT. sincerely, a constitutional law professor who also teaches employment discrimination

On this day in 1963 William Lewis Moore, a white postal worker from Baltimore, was shot and killed during a solo march against segregation in Alabama. Moore embodied radical nonviolence and moral courage and we remember his sacrifice—and carry forward his call for justice.

In Ps. 38:15 today: 'I wait for you, Lord! You will answer, my Lord, my God!' Cutting food stamps. Cancer research. Cutting funds for crisis hotlines for veterans. USAID again. This is death dealing. We answer with the truth. The truth sets us free. Answer is my work today.

This administration has fired crisis counselors for our veterans and now for kids. This bullshit doesn’t make us great. Any one of these calls could be life or death for a child. This senseless act of cruelty will kill people and they know it.

An important victory!
