I am a former lawyer, an ethicist, a political analyst and a policy advocate. I have a full time faculty position at Loyola University Chicago. However, all opinions expressed are my own. I know quite a bit about public health and healthcare policy.

I asked what I should tell my students, to get them to think about what policy actions they should take in furtherance of social justice. OK, this is my list. I'd love to hear your reaction. And your recommendations for what else we can do. "What to do?" danswartzman.blogspot.com/2025/02/what...

Everyone who can should stop what they are doing and watch “Apple Cider Vinegar” on Netflix. This series perfectly captures the lies, grift, and outright manipulation that is done by paid wellness performers. And that is what they are: performers and cons.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov is using his "state of the state" speech today to bring the fight straight to Trump/Musk/MAGA. "My oath is to the Constitution of our state and of our country. We don’t have kings in America – and I don’t intend to bend the knee to one."

Jimmy Carter was the first big name candidate I worked for. (I drove people around.) But of all I have worked for or voted for, he was the most decent, values-affirming among them. He made a series of unpopular decisions that the public didn't like. For that, maybe the first modern president.
