i plan to speak at this morning’s special cambridge city council meeting, where they’ll consider amendments to the city charter. while some proposed amendments are positive, i am strongly opposed to councillors doubling their terms. my planned comments:

We are 10 years into the failed YIMBY project, and it’s clear that the for profit real estate industry is not coming to the rescue to deliver housing for the working class. Disaster capitalism won’t deliver the housing we need. Social housing will.

i was one of several @bostondsa.org members to speak at tonight’s Cambridge School Committee meeting on the closure of Kennedy Longfellow School. here are my full comments on this latest move to deprioritize students’ and educators’ needs

BlueBikes, Bluesky, can’t lose

We should eliminate all vehicular traffic on Prospect St between Central and Union. Establish safe lanes for biking and pedestrians as well as a free trackless trolley/bus that does round trips every 15 minutes

Cambridge’s “Broadway Safety Improvement Project” will result in a protected bike lane in both directions and 75% less car storage. This is a huge win for those of us who believe in safety, climate justice, and walkable cities. Cars may have ruined cities, but we have the power to take them back!

These two parking lots are allowed up to 15 stories of affordable housing each, as of right. No possibility of a nimby lawsuit. We could be looking at hundreds of new subsidized homes, right next to the train. As a city hall staffer, I helped research and draft the law that made this possible.

Between the holiday and the weather, today is an extra tough day to be surviving poverty on our streets. Please be especially kind and generous if someone asks you for help

Jackie says hello!

i was in the news, along with several others from @bostondsa.bsky.social, for talking about why the bigoted, hateful Robert Winters does not represent this city. i’m disappointed our unelected City Manager refused to listen to Cambridge residents on this

Boston DSA salutes our members who stood up to bigotry and forced reconsideration of the undemocratic appointment of Robert Winters

At long last, Mass DCR has announced the "90% Design" meeting for Phase III of their improvements to Memorial Drive. This project will make way for a safe bike lane from JFK Street to the Eliot Bridge by eliminating one lane of vehicular traffic in each direction Register: zoom.us/meeting/regi...

My statement on the re-appointment of Robert Winters to the Central Square Advisory Committee (1/3): Robert's decision to alert an anti-LGBTQ+ account known for inciting violence to a drag story hour at our main library caused significant harm to our community...
